New England: Master of the Draft
The New England Patriots did it once again, they proved that they are the masters of the NFL Draft by trading their 7th round pick to the New Orleans Saints for the 10th overall pick and one in the third round. New England builds itself through the draft, getting an extra pick, even a third is huge for them.
What makes it even more impressive is that the Patriots used the 10th pick to select Jarod Mayo, a linebacker from Tennessee, clearly their player of choice. Rather than pick the best available player or take any consideration of what top players were available, the Patriots traded back and selected the player that suited them best. Jerod Mayo, while a tremendous talent, was not considered a top ten pick. This means nothing to the Patriots as they manipulate the draft once again to get their guy, and still get extra picks.
Regardless of what you think of the Patriots, it is without a doubt that they are masters of the NFL Draft.
