2008 NFL Draft: Best of the First Round
Without a doubt the best draft of the first round goes to the Kansas City Chiefs. They addressed clear and glaring needs on both lines, got quality players, and took advantage of best available players when they were there. When you've got as many draft picks as the Chiefs held due to the Jared Allen trade, you can move to the right spot.
The Chiefs now have one of the best defensive tackle prospects in a decade in Glenn Dorsey and a starting caliper left tackle in Branden Albert. The cornerstones of the defensive line and offensive lines for the next five years for the cost of a malcontent that was out the door anyhow. They're the best of the first round drafters.
The Pittsburgh Steelers took advantage of a tumbling Rashard Mendenhall and added a back that's considered by some to be the second best in the draft. The Offensive linemen that they needed were off the board, making the move for best available player. Willie Parker can't do it alone, Parker and Mendenhall will be a great combination.
Atlanta, to my chagrin, did things right. They moved on from the Michael Vick era, got a solid offensive linemen, and used their cornucopia of picks in the right way.
Three teams with problems took steps in the right direction. That's good drafting

Falcons synopsis… i’m not sure the Falcons fans would concur, but from an outsiders perspective, it seems like theyre moving in the right direction (plus it will be nice to see Ryan throwing passes to Ronde Barber!!! i kid i kid, well halfway i do)
