Newman is definitely better than Al Harris
that guy is overrated. Asante Samuel is a little overrated himself.

Asomugha should top this list
At worst, he’s second behind Bailey. He’s the truest definition of a shutdown corner, and has proven that if people actually throw the ball his way he can make them pay.
Pretty clearly the first time he has ever looked at a web site. "And there are readers' comments at the bottom! And advertisements for products! And best of all, I won a free iPod!"

I like Nate Vasher for top 20.
He was hurt last season so I don’t know if that affects his ratings, but he is an excellent corner.

No Corners from the #2 Passing D?
just kidding,
I’m on the Asomugha hype train. He was targeted on just 38 passes last year. As the #1 corner there weren’t even 40 passes thrown his way.
Football Outsiders had the Raiders as best in the league vs #1 WRs (and that’s per play it doesn’t even give credit for the low # of passes that QBs even throw as Nnamdi.) They were 31st vs #2s.
Just for a comparison
Bailey targeted 67 times
Cromartie 57
Clements 109
Samuel 81
Asomugha was avoided a lot. You can put some of that on a bad D around him, but teams usually don’t just let their top WR be taken out of a game even if it is much easier to just pick on everyone else on the D. When they did go to their #1 WR they were less successful against the Raiders than against any other team in the league.
