Mocking the Links
Rivers-Bengals far from signing
- The Bengals needed help at outside linebacker when they drafted Keith Rivers out of USC. The team has been impressed with free agent Brandon Johnson, but you do not replace a Keith Rivers with an undrafted free agent. Getting Rivers in camp should be priority #1, for all involved parties. Rivers has the look of a future star, and missing key reps and game experience this pre-season will not help him. While linebacker may be one of the easier positions for a rookie to transition to, Rivers needs the work.
Brennan Impresses Scouts, Coaches
- Colt Brennan fell to the sixth-round after a horrible showing in the Sugar Bowl, a forgettable Senior Bowl week and hip surgery. Oh, and he's a convicted felon in case ESPN hasn't reminded you yet this hour. The day-two gem did look good in mop-up time last night against other sixth and seventh-round players. While it is only the pre-season, Brennan has likely earned himself a roster spot. Unless he falls flat on his face next week.
Who is Alex Hall?
- He may be the Cleveland Browns starting outside linebacker before too long. The seventh-round steal from tiny St. Augustine's has looked good in camp ,and with Antwan Peek hurt, he could see immediate playing time rushing the passer.
This Just In...
- Every bit of respect Brett Favre has gained in my eyes and many others is gone today. I don't even have the words for it today.

“This Just In…

Holy moly, what happened? Was Brett caught sleeping with his neighbour’s 12 year old daughter or something? While they were away attending church?
Hilarious
It pains me to see athletes talk about how they play for the love of the game, and then pull this “I’m retired, no wait, I’m not retired. Okay, I am. Wait, give me $20million. Okay, I want to compete.”
If this were anyone other than Favre, the media and NFL owners would be up in arms. Imagine Terrell Owens doing this, or Chad Johnson. Favre has been given pass after pass in the media. Drug addicted? Check. Alcoholic? Check. Career interceptions leader? Check. Attention whore? Check.

Myehhh....
I bet half the work force in the country goes home on Friday afternoon thinking they would be better off quitting their job and doing something different. By Sunday evening they have reconsidered.
If not for Brett Favre, the NFL would be totally ignored at this time of the year. Just some vague images of guys with pot bellies in shorts trying not to die from heat stroke on a crummy little high school playing field in the far reached of suburbia.
Roger Goodell probably goes to bed at night in green and gold #4 pajamas.
HA!
You’re probably right about Favre. The difference between you and I contemplating retirement and Favre waffling is that we aren’t paid by the public, he is. He’s paid by ticket sales, merchandise and TV rights.
I have gone in my life from hating Favre, as a 49ers fan should, to respecting him after his father died, to now wishing he’d disappear like Jimmy Hoffa.

Everyone is "paid by the public" if you dig deep enough..
Unless they are living off a trust fund or something. Even the panhandlers and bottle collectors depend on “public support”.
Favre is unique, I can’t see anyone like him coming along for a long, long time. Enjoy him while you can. Otherwise it’s…...”Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio….our nation turns it’s lonely eyes to you….la, la, la….la, la, la….”
You don’t want that, do you? :)
God no
I can’t even watch ESPN anymore. Not that I was watching it much before….

Think of all the deer and drunken snowmobilers...
..who will live another year because the cholestorol clogged rednecks are sitting at home on Sunday afternoon, burping and farting in front of their big screen T.V.s. Whether Brett is playing in Wisconsin or Minnesota. Or anywhere else in that division for that matter. :)
Brennan
I watched that game and was thouroughly convinced Brennan has what it takes to be a #2 or #3 QB in this league.
High praise :P
Seriously, though, he was good.

Even though it was against scrubs,
I was impressed with his accuracy
