Colts DT Ed Johnson Arrested
This certainly weakens them at defensive tackle. The Colts seem to be above the media at times. I'm curious to see what the reaction is to this.Well, well, well.
Just as the “Days without an Arrest” meter edged back into double digits, it can be reset to double zero.
Colts defensive tackle Ed Johnson was arrested Wednesday morning for marijuana possession.
“Those charges have been filed, it is my understanding, and we are in the process right now of determining what course of action to take with respect to discipline,” G.M. Bill Polian said. ”There will be discipline, the question is what is it.”
As an initial step, coach Tony Dungy said that Johnson won’t play on Sunday at Minnesota.
Whether Johnson is docked a game check is a different issue. The arrest exposes Johnson to potential discipline under the substance-abuse policy; teams arguably don’t have the ability to impose separate penalties for the same conduct.
In fact, an argument could be made that the team has no authority to suspend with pay, either. It’s unlikely that Johnson would fight it, however. Otherwise, the team might conclude at some point in the future that his skills have eroded to the point that they have to cut him.

dumb, dumb, dumb
I had really hoped Ed had put that stuff behind him. At least it’s not as bad as the stuff that he was in trouble for at Penn State. As it is now (if nothing else comes out) I think he sits the game and is told he’ll be cut if he gets arrested again. He’s on a one year, minimum salary deal so the Colts have no cap issues if they have to cut him. Hopefully he just got going a little too fast on the highway while in possession of some illegal recreation. I hope this is a wakeup call for him and that he will be able to get his head straight without having to lose his job.

It seems like he'd be a player I'd want to have playing
against Adrian Peterson in Minnesota.

Ed Johnson cut
I guess it was zero tolerance after all the trouble in college

Wow
That leaves the Colts pretty thin at DT. What free agents are they lining up?

A return from McFarland would have the fans ecstatic
but for now it looks like his roster spot is going for a 4th RB/KR Justin Forsett
Most of Stampede Blue liked undrafted rookie Colin Ferrell in camp and preseason, a quick google search didn’t have him signing anywhere since he missed the last cut/didn’t make the practice squad.

Colin Ferrell
I knew it had been a while since he put out a good movie but I had no idea he had turned to football. He must have bulked up quite a bit to be a DT though.

The Colts have signed LaJuan Ramsey
into Ed Johnson’s vacated roster spot

Well, it wasn't a disaster without him
Foster and Ramsey were getting blown off the line in the first half, but by the 2nd Foster was making some plays.
