Matt Leinart vs Matt Cassel
This question is surely going to be overplayed this season, but what does SBNation say?
If you were starting a franchise tomorrow, who are you taking?

I can't get Carson Palmer? Or Matt Hasselbeck?
Is there a Carson Hasselbeck?
If i was starting an expansion franchise, I’d take Cassel, who would be more comfortable being a backup. Then, I would sign Kurt Warner in free agency.
On their current contracts?
I think Leinart is better, but nowhere near 5.3 million a year better.

I'd still take Leinart
It’s disappointing that he couldn’t beat out Warner but it’s not like was beaten out by a bad QB or anything. Leinart can still be a decent starter in this league and he’ll get his shot. It’s discouraging that it’s taken him this long but he’ll get there.
If Leinart can't look good in that offense, he won't anywhere.
Imagine if he had the receivers of the Bears or the Titans or the Chiefs or the Jaguars or some other team. He would be in big trouble. If you can’t do it with Fitz and Boldin then he maybe isn’t that good.
Kick it to me... I'm open!
Matt
No one said he couldn’t do it, he just couldn’t do it as well as Kurt Warner. And say what you want about Warner being old as dirt but he threw for 3,400 yards and 27 TDs in just 11 starts last year. That’s a lot to live up to.
