Rolle prepping for draft, invited to Senior Bowl
Former Florida State strong safety Myron Rolle play in the 2010 Senior Bowl. That's been reported by both Pete Thamel of the New York Times and Bruce Feldman of ESPN.com.
Rolle will be back in the U.S. on Dec. 6 through the NFL Scouting Combine. Feldman also reported on his Twitter page that Rolle's school schedule could preclude him from attending Florida State's pro day workout. Rolle has been doing a workout developed by Patriots defensive backs coach Tom Shaw five days a week.
Some consider Rolle, a former five-star recruit, to be somewhat of a disappointment in his three seasons with Florida State. However, he was named a third-team All-American in 2008 finishing the year with 62 tackles and five passes defended.
Rolle was famously named a Rhodes Scholar and opted to continue his education overseas, ending his college football career.
It's hard to gauge where he'd go in the draft after taking an entire year off football. Personally, I'd have Rolle ranked as the top senior strong safety in the country had he returned to school. He's not a flashy player but has good size and is clearly smart.
Rolle was never the best in coverage and could be a candidate to move to weak-side linebacker. That would allow him to bulk up to somewhere near 230 pounds and be strong enough to take on blockers and handle runners one-on-one.

I think his play in the Senior Bowl will be telling...
… particularly the practice sessions.
If Rolle is committed to playing safety, his lack of ideal fluidity in his backpedal and flipping his hips cause concern for most teams. I think his best chance is, as you stated, at WLB. Similar to Nic Harris, teams are going to want to look at his take-on strength. If he does improve his playing strength and proves himself a viable candidate at WLB during the Senior Bowl and the week of practices, he’s got starter upside in a fast flowing front, IMO.

I agree. He’d be wise to practice only at linebacker. I know he’s been timing in the 4.4 range, but he never seemed to be the best pass defender.
