Mockery of a Mock #3
Order based on standings. Keep in mind I have tons of underclassmen who may or may not declare.
1. Rams QB Jimmy Clausen Notre Dame***
They need a QB. End of story.
2. Titans DT Ndamukong Suh Nebraska
They could go a number of directions QB could be one of them. Obviously they miss Haynesworth so I gave them Suh.
3. Buccaneers S Eric Berry Tennessee***
Arguably the best player in the draft.
4. Lions DT Gerald McCoy Oklahoma***
Could go Okung here but Schwartz knows what it's like to have a DT that commands a double team and that is McCoy.
5. Browns QB Ryan Mallet Arkansas***
Does he enter? Who knows ? Brady Quinn isn't the guy after being benched and Mr. 2-17 isn't the answer either. Bradford or Mallet?
6. Chiefs WR Dez Bryant Oklahoma St.***
They could use plenty of things Okung included. Bryant and Bowe could make a very good combo.
7. Raiders DE Carlos Dunlap Florida***
I really do believe Dunlap falls. The two questions are how far and does Crazy Al like him? Could go Mays here as well.
8. Bills T Russell Okung Oklahoma St.
Could go QB with a new coach bound to come in. I gave them Okung but he could be gone by this point.
9. Redskins QB Sam Bradford Oklahoma***
Zorn had his play calling duties stripped, I think he's gone at the end of the year. Campbell is a FA and Daniel Snyder loves the big splash.
10. Seahawks QB Jake Locker Washington***
Could go a number of ways with this Locker can learn from Hasselbeck.
11. 49ers (CAR) S Taylor Mays USC
Reminds some of Ronnie Lott. Singletary should love this guy.
12. Chargers T Bryan Bulaga Iowa***
They have some FAs on the line this year. With Bryant gone they can go Damian Williams, Terrance Cody, or Bulaga.
13. Dolphins DT Terrance Cody Alabama
I would give them a WR but it's hard to ignore Parcells drafting history of going D in round 1. (yes I know about Jake Long).
14. Jaguars QB Tim Tebow Florida
I think this doesn't happen. Yes it sells tickets but it doesn't help your team.
15. Texans CB Joe Haden Florida***
Will Dunta get paid? If not Haden is the guy.
16. Jets WR Damian Williams USC***
Sanchize wants his guy.
17. Broncos (CHI) C Kristopher O'Dowd USC***
Hard to predict where a center could go but not seeing many holes in Denver.
18. Cardinals T Trent Williams Oklahoma
Mike Gandy? Seriously?
19. Cowboys WR Arrelious Benn Illinois***
Could go OT with Flozell aging, but Benn offers a nice weapon that Tony Romo will love.
20. Eagles LB Travis Lewis Oklahoma***
They could go DE but Travis Lewis upside is enormous.
21. Ravens WR Brandon LaFell LSU
I don't know what Ozzie will do but LaFell adds to that offense.
22. Packers DE Arthur Jones Syracuse
Could go T or CB but Jones helps that 34 D.
23. Steelers S Morgan Burnett Georgia Tech***
I don't really have a read on what Pittsburgh might do but Burnett would be a welcome addition.
24. Falcons CB Patrick Robinson Florida St.
Anywhere on D.
25. 49ers CB Ras-I Dowling Virginia***
Could go T or QB here instead of Dowling.
26. Bengals RB Jahvid Best California***
Could keep adding to the D but Best with Benson would be the new thunder and lightning.
27. Patriots LB Brandon Spikes Florida
I don't know if he falls this far but I read an interesting piece on MLB falling in the draft so it could happen.
28. Giants DT Marvin Austin North Carolina***
Giants will just keep adding depth. Austin could go higher than this.
29. Colts T Charles Brown USC
Charles Brown could be gone by now but if he isn't they should scoop him up.
30. Saints LB Sean Weatherspoon Missouri
I was thinking of putting Dwyer here as they were interested in Beenie Wells last year. They want that thumper but Weatherspoon is tremendous value here.
31. Seahawks(DEN) RB Jonathan Dwyer Georgia Tech***
They could find Walter Jones replacement here.
32. Vikings QB Colt McCoy Texas
Learns from Favre.
33. Patriots (TEN) LB Sergio Kindle Texas
They will keep adding youth to the D. Kindle, Spikes, Mayo that is a potentially awesome LB unit.
34. Buccaneers DE Derrick Morgan Georgia Tech***
Replaces Gaines Adams.
35. Rams TE Jermaine Gresham Oklahoma
#1 pick Jimmy Clausen will need some weapons.
36. Browns RB CJ Spiller Clemson
They need alot of things which way they go I don't know.
37. Chiefs LB Rolando McClain Alabama***
Like I said with Spikes, MLB's tend to fall (Laurinitis, Poluszny, Mauluga, EJ Henderson, DeMeco Ryans)
38. Lions T Selvish Capers West Virginia
If they Okung in round 1 then they go in a different direction here.
39. Bills DE Greg Hardy Ole Miss
Could go QB here with Snead but they add a pass rusher to the D.
40. Redskins DE Everson Griffen USC***
Could go higher he is having one hell of a season.
41. Seahawks G Rodney Hudson Florida St.***
Could go T here but Hudson is the arguably the best G in the draft.
42. Raiders T Bruce Campbell Maryland***
Could go higher (Ive seen him as high as top 15) Raiders need to do something.
43. Chargers WR Golden Tate Notre Dame***
Chargers have some FAs at the WR position this year Rivers will love Tate.
44. Dolphins WR Dezmon Briscoe Kansas***
They didn't go WR in round 1 they will here. I love Briscoe I think he's underrated.
45. Panthers QB Jevan Snead Ole Miss***
Delhomme's replacement. Hell they throw the same amount of picks now.
46. Texans S Reshad Jones Georgia***
Jones has 1st round talent. Houston will gladly snatch him up.
47. Jets DE Cory Wooton Northwestern
I don't know what they do after WR.
48. Patriots(JAX) G Mike Johnson Alabama
They love snatching up G's and with Matkins and Neal FAs they could grab one here.
49. Cardinals DL Brian Price UCLA***
Great value here
50. Cowboys S Chad Jones LSU***
The underclassmen safeties could make this position the jewel of the draft.
51. Eagles G Sergio Render Virginia Tech
They always seem to stock up on the OLine and DLine.
52. Buccaneers(CHI) LB Greg Jones MIchigan St.***
Could go higher, would be a welcome addition to the new and improved D.
53. Ravens CB Donovan Warren Michigan***
Nice value here.
54. Packers LB Brandon Graham Michigan
Could go earlier and they could go T here.
55. Steelers CB Trevard Lindley Kentucky
DeShea Townsends replacement.
56. Chiefs (ATL) CB Alterraun Verner UCLA
Turning the D around one draft choice at a time.
57. 49ers LB George Selvie South Florida
Could be a very good pass rusher in the 34.
58. Bengals DE Cameron Heyward Ohio St.***
Offense is there now they stock up on D.
59. Patriots CB Javier Arenas Alabama
Youth on the D.
60. Giants WR Mardy Gilyard Cincinnati
Could go higher but with the depth of the underclassmen he falls here where he is a great value pick.
61. Colts LB Eric Norwood South Carolina
Could play a little DE for them or LB.
62. Saints DE Jerry Hughes TCU
Pass rusher for the D.
63. Broncos DL Jared Odrick Penn St.
I don't know.
64. Vikings LB Navorro Bowman Penn St.***
They could go DT here since Pat Williams is getting up there in age.
65. Buccaneers WR Demaryius Thomas Georgia Tech***
Not the best route runner but he makes plays, not well known since he plays in an option offense. Could go alot higher.
66. Rams CB Kareem Jackson Alabama***
After going offense in rounds 1 and 2 they go D here.
67. Titans T Anthony Davis Rutgers***
Could go higher would be a great pick at this point.
68. Chiefs LB Thaddeus Gibson Ohio St.***
They add a pass rusher for the 34 D.
69. Lions S Major Wright Florida***
Wright and Delmas could be a great tamdem.
70. Browns S Deunta Williams North Carolina***
Brodney Pool is a FA.
71. REDSKINS DE JEREMY JARMON KENTUCKY (supplemental pick)
They used this pick to select Jeremy Jarmon in the supplemental draft.
72. Eagles (SEA) DE Ricky Sapp Clemson
Could go higher I've seen him as high as late round 1, with the underclassmen I've included he falls.
73. Raiders LB Michael Morgan USC***
Would be a steal at this point.
74. Bills TE Garrett Graham Wisconsin
Could go Tony Pike here but is he really a substantial upgrade over Edwards?
75. Dolphins LB Jermaine Cunningham Florida
Same as Ricky Sapp.
76. Panthers DT Vince Oghobaase Duke
Would be a nice value pick here.
77. Chargers S Darrell Stuckey Kansas
Could go Phil Taylor here to replace Jamal Williams.
78. Browns (NYJ) LB Brandon Lang Troy
Brandon Lang from the school that produced DeMarcus Ware.
79. Jaguars CB SydQuan Thompson California
Questions about his speed drop him.
80. Texans WR Danario Alexander Missouri
Alexander and Johnson could be a dangerous duo.
81. Cowboys T Ciron Black LSU
Not sure if he falls this far but the Cowboys would have to pick him up if they haven't addressed the T position by now.
82. Eagles TE Anthony McCoy USC
BPA.
83. Bears WR Eric Decker Minnesota
Doubt this happens because it would make sense and we don't do things that make sense do we Jerry Angelo? Watch out for Tony Washington here. The Bears have had good luck with Abilene Christian players.
84. Cardinals LB Micah Johnson Kentucky
Highly sought recruit hasn't lived up to expectations. Kind of like another guy the Cardinals drafted out of Kentucky Dennis Johnson.
85. Ravens T Tony Washington Abilene Christian
Could go higher. I've seen some that prefer him over Selvish Capers.
86. Packers T Kyle Calloway Iowa
Could change if they address the OL earlier.
87. Steelers C Stefan Wisniewski Penn St.***
Can play G as well.
88. Falcons DT Geno Atkins Georgia
They just keep adding to the D.
89. 49ers QB Tony Pike Cincinnati
If they take a QB earlier then this pick changes.
90. Bengals TE Rob Gronkowski Arizona***
I know they took Coffman last year but it seems he's struggling and plus they could use the depth.
91. Raiders(NEP) TE Aaron Hernandez Florida***
Could go higher.
92. Giants LB Rennie Curran Georgia***
Great value here.
93. Colts DB Myron Lewis Vanderbilt
Nice value pick here, plays corner now but size can move him to safety.
94. Saints RB Evan Royster Penn St.***
Maybe not the thumper they're accustomed to but he'll help.
95. Broncos RB Joe McKnight USC***
Does he fall this far? Probably not. A nice toy for McDaniels to play with.
96. Vikings DT Phil Taylor Baylor***
Future replacement for Pat Williams.

I think the Jags may go for O'Dowd in that situation
Meester isn’t getting any younger and that would be another young stud on the line

I was actually thinking along those lines
But with all the Tebow talk and speculation of Wayne Weaver talking about Tebow for tickets I went in that direction.

Tebow if drafted would fit a need,
which is to have someone to groom while garrard plays out his career. As for the Third round pick, I think our CBs are okay for now, and either DE, 3-4 LB, or SS/FS, or even G/C should be upgraded.

Fair enough, but Clausen, Mallet, Locker, AND Bradford?
We’ll just agree to disagree.
by TheRealSlimShady on Oct 20, 2009 11:33 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Who knows
I think most likely Mallet does return but I could see the other three going. Bradford with that injury is as good as gone (in my opinion). Clausen and Locker are arguably the top two QB prospects right now (due to Bradford’s injury) and Mallet could be in there as well.
I don’t know who comes out or who stays, but with this draft being the last one to get a huge rookie contract I can see alot of underclassmen coming out (not all will of course). I look at years past and some underclassmen have shocked the hell out of me like Adrian Arrington, James Banks, Ryan Grice Mullen, Letroy Guion, Erin Henderson, DaJuan Morgan, Chilo Rachal, Derius Reynaud, Orlando Scandrick, Devin Thomas, Mario Urritia, Asher Allen, Jeremy Childs, Austin Collie, Brian Hartline, PJ Hill, Greg Isdaner, Ricky Jean Francois, DJ Moore, Kevin Ogletree, Jerraud Powers, Donald Washington. I also don’t believe players when they first say they are coming back such as Donald Brown did last year.
Looking at some teams need for a QB and some possible coaching changes that could open some doors this year looks like the year to come out.
Plus I think alot of players will look at the injury situation such as Bradford/Gresham. Would Clausen be willing to risk that? Only he knows.

Personally, I think a player is crazy to stay another year.
Bradford may have cost himself +20 Million dollars due to his injuries this year. Unless he performs at the top of his game for the remainder of the year he could slide back to the third or fourth QB taken.
This is their livelihood. It does not make a lot of sense to risk it for the further glory of their school or coach. They mostly have put in two or three years of service in college and don’t owe their school anything. In my opinion.

NFL scouts and coaches like QB's that stay for their final season
They want to fix as little as possible. Also most QB who go bust are juniors: Leaf, Couch, Russell, Young. Could somebody find out how many QB bust were juniors? I can’t find anything.
by Steel in FL on Oct 21, 2009 2:34 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Actually, almost all Junior QBs taken in the first round have busted.
That was a big discussion point at our site [Pride of Detroit] before Stafford was picked. But I think you look at it on a case by case basis. In Stafford’s case he started as many games 36 as Matt Ryan and more than Flacco and Sanchez.
I guess I am arguing from the player’s perspective. They are taking all the risk with very little reward.
Last point, the coaching is usually much better in the NFL. They end up fixing them anyway. Some college programs have great position coaches too, but you would think after two or three years in the program they would be pretty well coached up.
by NorthLeft12 on Oct 21, 2009 6:10 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I agree with the games
It’s more about starts. Case in point Matt Barkley starting as a true freshman if he continues to develop (as opposed to flatlining like Pryor) why would you want him to come in that’s potentially 38 career starts.
Going back to 2000
Chad Pennington stayed all 4 and had decent career
Michael Vick came out as redshirt soph his career is up for debate he was never a “true” QB.
2002 saw 3 SR. QB’s David Carr, Joey Harrington, Patrick Ramsey. Not good.
2003 SR QB’s Carson Palmer, Byron Leftwich, Kyle Boller. Rex Grossman was the underclassmen.
2004 Saw all 4 1st rounders as SR’s Manning, Rivers, Roethlisberger, and Losman.
2005 Jason Campbell was the SR. Aaron Rodgers and Alex Smith weren’t.
2006 VY underclassmen and Leinart and Cutler were SR’s.
Since 2000 (only to 2006 I feel it’s still early to label 2007+ busts)the only underclassmen to go in round 1
Michael Vick
Rex Grossman
Alex Smith
Aaron Rodgers
Vince Young
hell I count 6 SR QB’s that were definately busts that’s more than the total underclassmen taken.

isn't it obvious and not really informative that the group with more players had more busts?
I’d look at the proportion that were busts in each group rather than the raw number. That’s what matters. Is an underclassman more likely to be a bust than a senior?
Luck is probability taken personally, clutch is probability attributed to individuals.
by shake n bake on Oct 21, 2009 8:19 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I don't think it matters
It’s case by case. Did that one year extra at Tennessee really help Peyton Manning? Who knows we don’t know what he would have done. But I tend to think he would have been alright. Matt Leinart did it help him staying another year at USC? He would’ve probably gone #1 to San Fran but stayed.
It also has to do with the support cast and the system. How good is a QB if he has no one to throw to or the line is garbage? I don’t care who is QB it’s going to be awhile before the Raiders start winning. If Tom Brady was drafted by a different team does he become one of the greats?
I get your point about the bigger group the higher bust rate however I feel it’s unfare to say almost all underclassmen QBs are busts. For every underclassmen like Alex Smith there is going to be a senior like David Carr. For every JaMarcus Russell there is a Brady Quinn.

Why would the Jets take Williams when they have Edwards
by TheRealSlimShady on Oct 20, 2009 12:24 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Your Browns had Edwards and yet took two receivers last year. Edwards does drop passes OFTEN. Also Braylon is a free agent at the end of the year.

They might not
I do include alot of underclassmen though (pure speculation) until the deadline day (Donald Brown announced he was returning to UCONN only to enter the draft a week later)I think they all go. In that case Greg Hardy could be in for a big fall. Griffen I’m not so sure about I was considering him to the Eagles along with Derrick Morgan (another underclassmen) and Hardy but I decided to give them a LB. Maybe the Falcons go DE since they moved Jamaal Anderson inside but I gave them a corner instead.

Hmm not sure the Cowboys draft a safety in the first day
We will probably resign Sensebaugh long term. And if we decide to part ways with Ken Hamlin, then rookie Mike Hamlin (who our coaches really like) will probably become the starter. I can see us drafting a safety on the second day though.
by quincyyyyy on Oct 20, 2009 8:34 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
technically it's not first day
round 1 is Thursday now.
But if the coaches are replaced and a new one comes in (don’t know if they totally change with Jerry being in charge) then that could change. Chad Jones is a 1st round talent that at that point we be great value but he might not even come out. It could all change depending on who comes out. I’ll keep that in mind though.

I agree Packers need help on the line
but they are also in a transition into the 34 D. Arthur Jones can help play some DE for the 34 which while Cullen Jenkins and Johnny Jolly (who is also a FA at the end of the year) have been decent neither offers the upside as Jones does. In round 2 Brandon Graham is due to Kampman being a FA at the end of the year. Yes they could opt to OL in round 1 but I just saw the value of the other two higher.

by TheRealSlimShady on Oct 23, 2009 4:52 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
True
But before the combine players usually either put on or drop weight. He could be one to drop weight to the 250 range. I know it’s nitpicking and no one really knows his true weight since most schools inflate ones size but most reports I’ve read had him around 263.

I love the Chiefs picks
All three of Kansas City’s picks are very possible and exciting, but I’m sure at least 2 of those first 3 picks will be very boring…I think they obviously have to address the OT position. Albert is a young and talented player, but is probably best suited for the RT position. Also, I think there is a great chance that the Chiefs take a NT either in the first or second round. Unfortunately, I think they made it clear last year that they are going to address need, rather than talent in the draft.

I was torn between the Chiefs taking Dez Bryant or Russell Okung, Todd Haley being an offensive guy who had two very nice toys to play with in AZ (Boldin/Fitzgerald) I could see him thinking of what Dez Bryant could do for that offense. So I went with him. Rolando McClain and Alterraun Verner I felt were just great value picks but I could have them taking Anthony Davis in round 2.

It's hard to say
Scott Pioli is now in charge of that team and I could be totally wrong but looking at that New England offense (that he help build) not alot of first rounders on the OLine (Madkins is the only one I think) so I think he could try to find some gems later on. Like I said I could be totally wrong though.

Great mock
Couple of things:
Why so high on Ryan Mallet? Granted I only saw him in the game against Florida and they have a great defense but he didn’t look like an early round QB. Also, with all the big name QB’s this year I see him staying in college for his senior season.
And the Niners, you know they need to help the offense right? I know you do, but you have them taking defensive players with their first three picks. When the offense is pretty bad, and the defense is good, doesn’t that seem like it would be a big mistake? No doubt it would be a fantastic defense to watch but I don’t think it’s in the best interests of the team.

Mallett goes 67 250
With a cannon arm that could be the best from day 1 in the NFL. As a redshirt soph I do see him coming back but as stated above with Bradford injury, and rookie pay scale surely to be implemented I wouldn’t be surprised to see him come out. If he does come out he will be in the conversation with Clausen and Locker (assuming they come out).
I could see them going OT, but with their first pick it was between a Taylor Mays that falls in their lap, line help with Bulaga, Terrance Cody to be that mammoth NT, or reach for a QB. I went with the value pick in Mays. With their second pick it was either Charles Brown for line help, Colt McCoy, or help out the secondary. I’m not real high on their corner situation with the aging Dre Bly and Walt Harris being free agents I thought a player like Dowling could eventually take over for Clements. In round 2 George Selvie would be tremendous value and could be the steal of the draft being a rush LB from the 34 I could have given them Anthony Davis but Haralson is going to be FA so I went with Selvie. In round 3 I probably should have given them a OT but when I saw Pike left just put him there.

Most of your mock is pretty good and addresses needs, but
I don’t see the Bengals taking a RB with their first rounder. We need Safety and TE help a lot more than we need a RB. We’ve already got a backup RB with a world of potential in Bernard Scott. And with the way our staff is about RB’s, it’s very unlikely Jahvid Best sees very many touches. Especially if Cedric Benson keeps playing like he has been. I could see us taking Gresham in Round 1 because TE is very much a need right now in Cinci, especially considering that Coffman isn’t ready yet, Coats shouldn’t be on an NFL roster, and Foschi is a good blocker, but can’t be trusted to catch either. It is also questionable(and probably unlikely) if Kelly or Utecht return next year from their injuries. Kelly suffered an Achilles tear and will be 33 next year, and Utecht is concussion prone, and with that history, it’s unlikely he bounces back from one that ended his season in training camp.
That said, I think the Bengals will take a Safety or TE in the first round depending on the board. I agree with you that they will take a DE in the second, especially if Geathers leaves via free agency.

I agree with you on the safety and tight end
However my case for Best is the draft isn’t always about need it can also be who is the best player available.I was high on Bernard Scott last year so in no way am I going to say he is a bum however he isn’t on Jahvid Best’s level. This is the best Cedric Benson has looked and it only took him six years?!?! 6. Is this what he is really made of? Or just one good season?
Coffman is struggling because he came from a spread offense he has trouble blocking which the same can be said for Gresham comes from a spread offense and he is not the greatest blocker. In no way am I putting them in the same class once again Coffman isn’t on Gresham’s level however to say Coffman isn’t ready we need Gresham i’m not really thinking of that as a solution. I did have them taking Rob Gronkowski a JR TE from Arizona in round 3 so I see the need.
Thanks for your reply and I totally spaced off safety help so thank you for that. However my opinion at this point leads to Best but as the season goes on it could change who knows maybe Benson finally does “get it” now.

It's one thing to draft BPA
It’s another thing to ignore your needs because somebody ranked high is still there. No matter how high a QB is ranked if he is there when the Colts pick he will still be on the board when the next team is on the clock. No matter how high the Vikings have Best ranked they won’t pick him because they already have two starting calbier RB.

Wow are we really putting Cedric Benson in the same class as Peyton Manning and Adrian Peterson? I hope not. After watching the draft over the last couple years there is one thing I have learned… never say never. Who knows if Sam Bradford falls to the Colts pick who knows maybe they pick him up it would be another asset. Realistic? Probably not but it wouldn’t shock me. Hell the Patriots took a QB in round 3 in 2008 I remember that shocked a fair amount of people even back in the day in Denver they drafted Tommy Maddox to take over for John Elway who went on to play another 10 years (give or take). The Packers took Aaron Rodgers with Favre still playing. Was the Panthers biggest need a RB when they took Jonathan Stewart and already had DeAngelo Williams on the roster? I also remember during the 07 draft alot of people had Brady Quinn to the Dolphins all ready to go when they surprised some and took Ted Ginn.
As for the Vikings Chester Taylor is a free agent at the end of the year.
I agree with what you’re saying however it’s too hard to say what teams have a player ranked so highley on their boards that they would take that player over a need.

I agree with you
But the Bengals have very rarely drafted BPA in any draft as long as I remember

Last time the Bengals drafted BPA
was when we drafted Palmer, but QB was also a need for us

I think New England will pick a D-lineman early.
by TheRealSlimShady on Oct 24, 2009 11:40 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
They very well could
I would not be shocked if they went Gresham in the 1st with Watson being a FA. They could go G with Neal and Madkins being FA’s. Jarvis Green and Wilfolk are as well and they have two OLB and ILB that are free agents. They need talented youth on D and that’s when you don’t include who all hits free agency this year.
Plus with New England you never know what they may do who saw Kevin O’Connell a couple years ago?

Why does everyone have the Texans taking a WR?
by TheRealSlimShady on Oct 24, 2009 11:40 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
You act like Kevin Walter is the second coming of Jerry Rice or something. Everytime i’ve seen someone mention WR for them you bring him up. Which by the way he is a free agent at the end of the year. Plus I had them taking one in the 3rd round. Are you telling me that there is no chance of them taking one in the 3rd round? Not round 1 or 2 but round 3?

I do think the Texans will take a WR, just not sure when
Walter has proven to be a decent no. 3, Jacoby Jones is presently the default no.2, but he is much more dangerous as a returner. That said, I do think the Texans are looking for a true no 2. to complement Andre Johnson’s skill set. Andre Johnson is one of if not the best WR in the NFL right now, but Houston does need another guy who can be consistent. I could definitely see another WR drafted by the Texans in round 2 or 3. Hell, they may even draft a return man so Jacoby Jones can focus more on being the no. 2. Also valid point about Walter being in a contract year. In today’s NFL, people tend to play harder in that situation because it’s like an audition to any and all potential suitors.

I'm Praying
We don’t draft Tebow. I just really don’t want him.

I hope you guys don't
The talent you could get instead is amazing you could go a number of ways like Cody if he falls or Haden to help at corner, Taylor Mays if he falls could be interesting him and Nelson together. Kris O’Dowd could be a nice pick up as well. Maybe even Sam Bradford.
Wayne Weaver mentioning Tebow not only confuses me but really has me wondering why?

Yeah
Tebow looked horrible in the Miss Game tonight. He isn’t a passer at the next level. Just isn’t. And I agree about the numerous possibilities to add talent at other, more critical positions. Especially in the secondary, where I think there is a lot of talent to upgrade our safety and cornerback positions.
I’d be excited if Mays fell, that guy is a physical specimen.

Draft time in any sport is notorious for smoke screens. Are you guys switching to the 34 full time next year? Is Del Rio’s job safe?

34
I like the 4-3 better, and the 46 the most, but the Jags showed last season they don’t have the personnel to run the “bear”. It’s common belief that we were going to use the 34 in certain situations this year, but injuries have pressed the scheme into being used full time. Nobody knows for sure which scheme we’ll choose.

I like the 4-3 with 1 or 2 LBs Blitzing
all we need is a good pass rush and good coverage from the rookies.
