Terrence Cody captures the heart of America
The talk of the college football nation is the play of Alabama defensive tackle Terrence Cody.
Justifiably so. He blocked two kicks, including the game-clincher in the Tide's 12-10 win over Tennessee. Any time someone blocks two field goals in the fourth quarter it's an impressive display.
While it's fine for Tide fans, don't get carried away thinking about Cody as a draft prospect. He's strictly a two-down player and gets taken out of the game on obvious passing downs.
Cody also doesn't seem quite as immovable as everyone thinks. Against South Carolina on Oct. 17 he was pushed around, sometimes even by single blockers. Teams might not run at him, but his gaps can be opened up.
Although you can't judge a player totally by stats, particularly a defensive tackle, Cody hasn't registered a tackle for a loss in more than a month.
There will always be weight and stamina issues with Cody as well. He wore down toward the end of the 2008, so the final five or six games Alabama plays will be critical for Cody.
Between now and April, teams will have to decide whether a player who doesn't play every down is truly worth a first-round pick.

True
as I watched the replays of Mt Cody stop my team from finishing off the upset, I just knew there would be a bunch of TC articles regarding the Heisman and early 1st Rd status. I just don’t see it based on this game. He beat up on a walkon Center (Sullins) who has overperformed at times this season. If McNeil were healthy and able to play (which he may never make it back on the field), those blocks don’t happen. Sullins just couldn’t handle someone so big and strong. It will be interesting to see who is willing to grab him in the first.

I love Cody. But whoever takes him in the first round is an absolute moron!
Did you see him get tired and fall to the ground gasping for air after celebrating his second kick block! That was hilarious. He is a monster though.

NT
Is he big enough to play NT in a 3-4? If he is, a team like Dallas whose backup NT is some spare could easily use a mid round draft pick as a rotation player.

Did you seriously just ask if Cody is big enough? I think the question is if he is too big

Big enough? Guy! He's too big to play NT! He's 6'5 365 Ibs.
He’s perfect to play NT! His problem is he gets tired after 2 plays and has to be carted of the field to the food court to go get re-energized. Lol

If I'm being biased, I would love to see him and Rolando McClain in Dolphins colors next season. :)
And it’s definitely possible, especially after yesterdays ugly loss to the Saints. :( although the Fins desprately need a new no.1 reciever. Ted Ginn is below garbage. He’s a mixture of vomit, Sh%t, Diareha, and my grandmothers beef stew. Lol. Golden Tate maybe. That guy is going to be a star!

Ted Ginn
Needs to play slot receiver. No way he should be starting with a second year quarterback who is still developing.

Still developing? Henne looks like a veteran out there! He's past development.
7 drpped passes in this game! Had though been caught, it could have been an entirely new ball game. And all the throws are always on the money. The guy is going to be great. I’m calling it right now. He’s going to be better than Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan! He’s Chad Pennington with a strong arm and can make all the throws. That’s scary. He just needs some toys to play with.
And Ginn can’t play slot. Slot recievers are usually good possesion recievers and Ginn can’t catch at all. He has worse hands than the freaking Sean Smith whose a corner! Plus he’s afraid of getting hit and always runs out of bounds. So he’ll never be able to go up the middle.

Ginn also dropped a pass that was on the money that he bobbled it up in the air into Darren Sharper’s hands that ended up a pick 6. That play wasn’t Henne’s fault so he really didn’t make any mistakes in the game. The other pick 6 was on a 4th and 13 (cause Ginn dropped a 15 yard pass before that would have been even more yards cause he was absolutely wide open! Man Ginn sucks! Bleep you Cam Cameron!) desperation pass that would have been the end of the game either way if it would have been a loss if downs. And nobody blocked and he got hit hard on the play! He had less than 2 seconds to throw. Henne looks really good actually. And he’s way better than Mark Sanshit! Lol.

Ha... Its all good bro
I will admit Henne did look great. I remember about third quarter turning to my friend and saying how Henne has absolutely no weapons at all in the passing game.
I didn’t mean Ted Ginn in the literal slot, just a third receiver. With what you guys have right now, you could move Bess outside, and when you go three receiver bring Ginn in on the outside and Bess back in the slot. And then after the season, cut Ginn…
