what does a guy like Jerry Hughes have to do the rest of the season and/or combine
to solidify himself as a 1st round pick in your mind?
Also, outside of Hardy and Kindle, who’s the best 3-4 OLB right now?

I doubt he would be able to play in coverage

Just wondering
Why not? Based on his height and weight he seems to be at an acceptable size.

Well, the two TCU games I saw this year were against Clemson and BYU, and he wasn’t very impressive in those games. He’s just kind of erratic. And there is some history of those TCU ends having trouble in the NFL.
I wouldn’t consider Hardy a 3-4 prospect. Here’s my rank of the 3-4 OLBs:
1. Eric Norwood
2. Kindle
3. Hughes
4. Ricky Sapp
5. George Selvie

Just my two cents
I like Kindle better than Norwood.

I don’t like Hardy as a 3-4 OLB because he looks a little stiff moving laterally in space.

He reminds me of LaMarr Woodley
How do those two compare, in your mind?

MD- couple questions for you- not nitpicking anything at all.
Do you use a grading system to produce you’re lists?
Is it just you producing this list or is it a group effort?
Thanks in advance.

I should and I will soon
I’m really conflicted about the QB’s.
My scouting (which I hope is objective) tells me that Clausen is the best QB available. He shows a good arm when I’ve seen him, and everything else about him is top shelf.
My gut tells me that Locker ends up being the top QB available with his physical traits- and he’s played very well when I’ve seen him.
Bradford’s a toss up to me. I see Bradford as a Peyton Manning type in terms of mental ability, but more of an Alex Smith in term of body development. And the injury really puts his draft grade in doubt for me.
Tebow’s got some real issues. However, I’m watching UGA and UF now (partially, as my Direct TV is acting up). His mechanics actually looked good so far today. His throws have been great today- on target, no wobble, correct velocity.
I’m also a bit of a perfectionist- I’ll take a look at my stuff today and maybe just let it ride and see what happens.
My scouting report is going to be small this week- my Direct TV router box went last night during USF-WV, after the first quarter. Direct TV guy is coming here today so hopefully I get the later games in full.

None of the good USF prospects played well last night. Allen was ok, but the ends were a big let down. Capers looked about as he has all year — good but nothing too special. Devine got shut down.

Oh, and you need to rock that ESPN360! That’s what I do, at least. It’s nice to jump around from game to game.

I need to do that
I jump around on the 600 series channel a lot and catch what I can.
I went with NFL Sunday Ticket so far. I’m coming back from a long stint overseas where I didn’t get to see much of my Bills.

Couple things I did notice
… between pixilization. I thought Capers handles JPP and most of the other ends he faced. JPP beat im pretty cleanly with an inside counter once. Another exception was #58- he seemed to give Capers some trouble in the play that I saw.
I also noticed that USF put JPP at DT on some passing downs and he got decent penetration.
This is all on limited plays that I got to see- so I could be way off.

Tebow may be projectable as early 3rd round

How is Clausen so low?

I just like the other players better. I wouldn’t say 19 is super low. Where would you have him ranked?

My opinion
I know it’s all a matter of opinion but I don’t like Dwyer and Hardy that much. I like Warren more than Lindley. Not disagreeing where Demariyus Thomas is ranked but I think he will be much much better in the pro’s once he gets out of an option offense.

Warren is super intriguing to me. I think I like him better than most do. He’s just been beaten a few more times than he should this season.
And I agree on Thomas. It’s just so hard to properly judge the guy because of the system.

Mocking Dan,
What do you think of Reggie Stephens as a center?
At 333 he has to be the biggest or at least one of the biggest potential centers in the draft. With all of these big nose guards in the league you would think someone of his size would be desired.

I honestly haven’t watched a lot of Iowa State this year. I’ll to rewatch that Nebraska game and get a better opinion of him.
You’re right, though, he is one of the biggest centers in the country. And he’s started a ton of games.
