And the reason I Mallet as number 1 is because NFL teams drafting first tend to fall in love with Big-armed SEC QBs
Such as Alex Smith, Carson Palmer, David Carr, Michael Vick.
What is with all the love Fox is getting lately? Like the guy but 1st round? Campbell’s history bug concerns me a little.
I like it. I really do

Mallet also has the bonus of being a former Michigan QB!
and you know the NFL loves them some pro style Michigan QBs.
Mallet could be the last one……..until Rich Rod leaves.

Look at the last two drafts. Stafford and Russell. Big armed SEC QBs
by TheRealSlimShady on Oct 31, 2009 12:05 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
That's all pretty much coincidence
I’m sure teams looking to draft the top QB haven’t been making sure they play in the SEC before they draft them.
Stafford wast the best QB in the draft this past draft, and Al Davis saw a large man who threw the ball far in that draft.
Didn’t matter that they were from the SEC.

I know they dont look for the QBs to come from the SEC, but playing in a pro-style offense and facing elite competition is always a plus

nice draft
just some notes…
Mallet is very intriguing, but I really doubt he enters this year. Dude’s a redshirt sophomore. But in 2011, wouldn’t shock me to see him to #1 overall.
Jonathan Dwyer at 12 is a crazy reach. More like a mid 20s kinda guy.
I dig the Taylor Mays pick for the 49ers.
Sergio Kindle is hardly a 1st round prospect at this point. I’d take him, but not until the late 20’s.
Spikes to the Jets? They have David Harris and Bart Scott. Not a need, or that much of a value pick.
Navorro Bowman is a 2nd/3rd round prospect.
Raiders take Ulatowski (a 4th/5th round prospect) over Ciron Black, Selvish Capers, and Sam Young??? Capers is pretty damned fast, and would be the Al Davis pick. If he dies (fingers crossed), Ciron Black would be the best fit.
49ers take Cunningham over Jerry Hughes???
I love the Ras-I Dowling pick for the Bengals.
Can Sean Lee play SLB? If not, the Eagles don’t want him.
Who is Keenan Clayton?
by birds'n'raiders on Oct 30, 2009 9:43 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
At Seattle’s first pick, there werent any OTs or QBs worth that pick either, so I gave them Dwyer.
I see Ulatowski as a 2nd round prospect because I think he might be able to play LT in the NFL.
by TheRealSlimShady on Oct 31, 2009 12:10 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I think they'd rather go with someone
Like Charles Brown over Dwyer.
by Brendan Scolari on Oct 31, 2009 2:32 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
They could probably get one of Brown or Fox at their second pick
by TheRealSlimShady on Oct 31, 2009 2:52 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Ulatowski
well that’s well and nice that you think he can be a LT, but the Raiders have a fine LT in Mario Henderson. They need a RT, RG, and C on o-line.
As for Seattle, Charles Brown is gonna be that pick after he lights up the combine.
by birds'n'raiders on Oct 31, 2009 4:16 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Well he sure hasnt lit up the combine yet, so I wont have him that high

Greg Jones is a beast
I’ll need to see more to be convinced that he can handle the tough coverage assignment that a Tampa-2 MLB gets, but he was impressive in the Iowa-MSU game.
Luck is probability taken personally, clutch is probability attributed to individuals.

Is it me or is
Clausen isn’t in this? I agree with what you said about big armed physical freaks like Mallet but call me crazy I think he’ll be the next JaMarcus Russell if he’s drafted to go in and start right then and there. Maybe if he stay on the bench and learns he might get better.
by chinchillas sword on Oct 31, 2009 2:50 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Mallet has had more than one good game...unlike Russell
and if you watch him, you can tell he’s no jamarcus Russell, not in the least bit.
Other than size and arm strength, Mallet has no business being in the same sentence as Russell (unless Mallet IS one day the 1st overall…which he could be, just probably not this year.)

I like the Chad Jones choice.
Big guy, LSU defense (where Giants got C-Web from…).
Not sure who’s better, Jones or Morgan Burnett so either way good choice given who’s available.
as for the 2nd rounder…
I second this motion
Who is Keenan Clayton?other than OLB from OU?
…also interesting on the Mallet thing, with him declaring at all. And no Jimmy Clausen either?
I really doubt that given what happened to Sam Bradford, the potential rookie scale for next years draft and the fact that Clausen is probably a lock for a top 5 pick…he’s coming out.
I also don’t think Mallet is the #1 overall just yet. He has the talent, but one year starting and I really don’t think teams are dumb enough to draft him #1 overall just yet.

But Clausen is surely more likely to declare than Mallett.

I think the Giants could use a fast linebacker that can cover. Clayton is very fast for a linebacker because he used to play safety. He might be a little bit of a project but the Giants can afford to pick guys like that.
by TheRealSlimShady on Oct 31, 2009 3:00 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yes, the Lions could go that way at #4 and #36
but it will be a tough decision to pass by Eric Berry. Glad I don’t have to make that call.
In the second round I like Wilson, he might be a bit early there, or Dowling or a DE like Morgan.
There is not much the Lions don’t need.

I cant beleive that two WVU players are going back-to-back before Marty Gilyard
"Polamalu’s lineage can be traced through several roots. Chuck Norris mated with an Amazon Queen, and on the other side, Tony Hawk mated with Mother Nature. The two children of these spawned and fused in a tantric love session to create Troy Polamalu. The mother however died as he tore through the birth canal with a spin move."

Why do you mention Gilyard when you are talking about players going back to back?
by TheRealSlimShady on Nov 1, 2009 1:23 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Marty Gilyard should be going before those two.
or at least before Capers, Noel I can understand but Tony Pike would make more sense for the Redskins

All of those players are different positions.
And why would the Redskins take 2 QBs
by TheRealSlimShady on Nov 1, 2009 5:19 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Over-looked Bradford in the first round
Ok if the redskins take capers then i think its down to Seattle and Buffalo for Tony Pike in the second round. I don’t know I’m just not sold on New England taking Noel, I don’t think they really need a RB and if they take one in this years draft I don’t think it will be that high.

Why not?
Maroney is nothing special, Faulk is old and bad, Morris is a third-string guy.
I think Devine would be a nice pick at that spot
by TheRealSlimShady on Nov 2, 2009 4:53 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I could see them picking Devine which would be scary
But I also could see Belicheck trading back to the 6th and picking the Terrell Davis type player.

The only question I have is why you don't have Golden Tate in your mock.
There’s no way he’s returning to school. His stock is at an all-time high right now and will never get any higher. If he returns to school, he won’t have Jimmy Clausen throwing to him which means his stock would likely drop. He needs to come out. By the way, is there any doubt he’s a first round pick at this point? He’s gifted.
by JP 23 on Nov 1, 2009 10:48 AM EST via mobile reply actions 0 recs
I wouldnt say there is no chance he stays. A lot of people dont go pro that people think will.

by tj.hendricks on Nov 1, 2009 2:00 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
They're both probably doing the same thing.
and given that both stocks are at the highest now and more than likely at the end of the season, I doubt that both stay.
Clausen’s probably the #1 overall. Tate is simply a football player at WR. I don;t know if he’s a first round pick, that sort of depends on his offseason workouts.
Not to say he doesn’t have first round talent, Tate has top 15 pick talent actually. Wherever he drops to he’s gonna be a steal.
But yea, he’s probably going into the draft. Clausen too.

Love round 1....don't understand round 2
I don’t get why so many people list CB as one of the Cardinals needs? There are so many other big, pressing needs before cornerback.
Judging from the players available, I’d hope they take either Young (OT), Lee (ILB), Johnson (ILB) or even another OLB (Jerry Hughes) before they take a corner.
Be careful....to a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
