Trojans Taylor Mays and Anthony McCoy impressive in win

Watching the California/Southern California game Saturday, no seniors looked better than Taylor Mays and Anthony McCoy of the Trojans.

For Mays, it was what people wanted to see all season. He was making plays all over the field for the Trojans. Playing free safety, Mays is usually asked to drop back in deep coverage. While it allows him to accumulate highlight-reel hits, it limits his total impact on the game.

Against the Golden Bears, Mays intercepted a pass in the end zone and had 10 tackles in the game. After the jump, there's a video of Mays' most impressive play. It happened near the end of the first half. On a wide pitch, Mays tracked down Cal's Jahvid Best. Don't think Mays is a top player? Re-watch the game and come back with the same opinion.

As for McCoy, he's in quite the advantageous position. With Jermaine Gresham and Rob Gronkowski missing the rest of the season, the top tight end spot is up for grabs. Two weeks ago, Oregon's Ed Dickson looked good as a receiver. This week, though, McCoy looked great as an all-around tight end.

Before this season I didn't think especially highly of McCoy. While he's not a dominant, game-breaking tight end, he's dependable. He can block better than most tight ends and di a nice job of picking up Cal linebackers. At the moment, I'd consider him a late third-round prospect with the chance to rise up.

Dickson

If He has a couple more good games- might have to consider him in my 1-2nd rounds

This play does two things for me...

Sells me on Mays and pushes me away from Best.

Wherever I go, that's where I am.
