LeFevour on unbelievable run
Yes, it's against Mid-American Conference competition, but Central Michigan quarterback Dan LeFevour is beginning to assert himself as one of the top players in the nation.
Over the last two games he's a ridiculous 49 for 59 passing for 605 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions. He's had five more touchdowns running the ball.
On the season, he's completing 70 percent of his passes with 2,627 yards, 21 touchdowns and five interceptions.
LeFevour is a mobile quarterback coming from a spread offense, but he has solid NFL tools. He puts good velocity on his passes and can throw really well on the move. He plays with a lot of toughness and played well earlier this season against Michigan State.
LeFevour is emerging as a solid mid-round prospect in the draft. At the very least he could be a solid backup.

I don’t think he has any accuracy on longer passes.

Could be a nice developmental QB
I’d say he’s a solid 3rd rounder.
Maybe even a future starter.
I wouldn’t put it past a team like the Vikings from drafting him in round 2 even just to get him under Faverer’s wing.

I am firmly in the “don’t draft an early QB” camp. And a guy like LeFevour is exactly why. While Claussen or Bradford might have more accolades and press, I’m not sure if they are any more of a sure thing than LeFevour.
Living in MAC/Big Ten country, I’ve seen a lot of him for the last four years, and he is impressive. He has the size, the poise, the speed, and the accuracy. He doesn’t show the deep balls too often, but when he does they are usually on a line and accurate.
Also, I like the site. This is my first time on Mocking the Draft.

It's a great blog
Welcome.
As far as Lefevour, history says Clausen and Bradford have a much higher chance of success. Or to be more precise, history says that QB’s drafted in the top 10 picks of the draft have a much higher chance of success than a guy drafted in the 50-70 range.

You know, I said that a little too strongly. Sure a QB drafted in the top 10 has a higher chance of raw success than a QB drafted in the 50-70 range. BUt relative to the monetary investment and the use of a pick that high, the damage of a bust in the top 10 is way, way too big for my taste.
Also, I’m not convinced that Bradford and Claussen both go in the top 10. I could see Claussen do the Quinn/Rodgers slide and I think teams are going to be very skeptical of Bradford’s shoulder and injury vulnerability. And LeFevour has a chance to be taken before the 50-70 range, and more like the 25-40 range.

We actually discussed this just a couple posts down on the front page
In this post talking about how division leaders had QB’s drafted later than usual. I wrote a pretty long argument as to why I disagree with you so if you want to check out my response, feel free. But i think drafting a QB high is often the best move a franchise can make.
I do agree that Clausen and Bradford could slide though. But I also don’t see Lefevour getting picked as high as you do.

The East West game will be important from him.

Totally agree with the part about QBs.
Tim Hiller, Dan Lefevour, Tony Pike, even Tebow are worth waiting for in 3rd+ rounds.

Thanks Ryan, that means a lot. This is something I like to do in my free time, so any positive thoughts are always appreciated.
Look forward to reading your stuff on DBN. Chris does an excellent job there.
