Ranking the top 25 draft-eligible sophomores
With a possible record number of redshirt sophomores entering the 2010 NFL Draft, it might be a good idea to start thinking about some of the best.
The clear-cut top third-year sophomores are Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett and Texas strong safety Earl Thomas. After them there is a moderate drop in talent, but the top six in the list could all go in the first two rounds of the upcoming draft.

10. Akeem Ayers | OLB | 6'4, 252 pounds | UCLA

I could see
Mallet, Thomas, and Lewis coming out. My wildcard would be Caleb King.
Thomas should come out, because his stock will never be higher. If he was bigger, I could see him waiting it out because he would know he would be taken high. But at his size, he probably knows that he should declare while he can, before teams dissect his game too much and turn away from him due to his stature.
Mallet probably shouldn’t come out, and I dont think he will unless he gets a Top 3 grade from a group of analysts, but even if he did, I wouldn’t see a problem with that. Unless, of course, he got hurled into a horrible situation (Raiders, Browns). So, it depends on who’s picking where as well. If he thinks he’d make it to the Rams, Bills, Broncos, or Vikings; he is good as gone.
Lewis is the best 4-3 OLB in the class.

Hell yeah all of them
Seriously though, I’m on the fence about Mallett some days I think he is gone and some I think he stays. I see him as the #4 QB at worst right now.
Earl Thomas for all I’ve said about the rookie pay scale and what not it shall be noted that not too many Texas players enter the draft early, Kwame Cavil, Vince Young, and Jamaal Charles are all that come to mind. When you think of the talent that has gone through that factory that is amazing. I wouldn’t be surprised if he came out but I’m leaning on him staying for that reason which could be null and void with the rookie cap.
I do think Travis Lewis should enter he is the top OLB in the draft right now.
Draft guru in training.
