Current 2010 NFL Draft order
For you mock drafters out there or anyone just curious, here is the current draft order. In parenthesis is the winning percentage of a team's opponents. If the season ended today, the 13th and 14th picks would be decided by a coin flip.
As an aside, think the Panthers are still happy trading their 2010 first-round pick so they could take Everette Brown? On the season he has 13 tackles and one sack.
1. Cleveland Browns - 1-9 (.531)
2. St. Louis Rams - 1-9 (.544)
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - 1-9 (.550)
4. Detroit Lions - 2-8 (.531)

11. San Francisco 49ers - 4-6 (.494)

It's never a good decision to trade away next year's draft picks
Especially your 1st round draft pick. You can say “Next year’s class will be weak,” all you want, but you never know who could fall into your lap on draft day.
Also, you never know what your record’s going to be the following year – you might be a strong team and have confidence in your ability to win, but so did the Bears (thinking Cutler was some kind of Windy City Messiah and their pick would be later in the round rather than the top 10).

Again
another FSU dig. Everette Brown has been extremely effective for the Panthers and there is talk the Panthers might move him to the other side(LDE) next year. The kid doesn’t start hence his stats and is merely used as a situational pass rusher. Brown will be good though just give him time and his strength and speed is off the charts. I don’t think the Panthers should have moved up to draft him though.

His biggest problem
right now as well is size. He is only 256 and needs to bulk up. Julius Peppers who he backs up in comparison is 283.

2nd year in a row they have pulled this move and it has actually worked out better for them than i expected both years. I remember last year when the whole SSmith/KLucas skirmish went down in camp I thought we (the eagles) were destined for a top10 pick and a shot at crabtree. Still think we made out pretty good though, trade more or less broke down to DeSean Jackson + Jason Peters for Jeff Otah. If this turns out to be a Sam Bradford for Everette Brown type deal it could get pretty ugly in carolina.

That’s a load of bologna. He can dominate at his size. Dwight Freeney is only 268 and Robert Mathis is a whopping 245.

Size does make a big deal
and some teams can get away with smaller size on the end depending on the defensive sets they run, so maybe he can fit in at that weight. Please don’t compare 7 year pros to a rookie though. Experience can overcome size, but usually it’s not the other way around. For the record the protypical size for an end in the NFL is 6-4 and weighs between 268-270. Teams have moved more towards smaller and faster ends and the days of 280 pound DE’s has passed us by. Again it really depends on the base defense that team runs.I still think Brown will be okay once he gets more game experience. Like I said earlier he backs up Peppers an absolute freak on the end. Because Carolina franchise tagged Peppers the Panthers definitely will have to figure out what to do with Brown. They either have to flip him to the other side or move him to LB.

though we've seen Mathis is better used in combination with a bigger end

Everette Brown
should be an OLB in a 3-4 – that position best fits his size and skill-set.

I totally agree
not sure he can put that much weight on his frame to best fit as a DE in the NFL. Peppers is 6’7 so he can pack it on, Brown I think stands 6’1 or 2. Brown has exceptional speed and strength though and was always around the ball at FSU. Time will tell on how well the pick works out, but Carolina so far isn’t unhappy with their pick.

Would selecting safety Morgan Burnett at the Jags #21 draft spot
be decent value?

I Think So
I consider him a first round talent, especially if he has a good off-season. Either him or Mays.

wow
a lot of teams in the top ten that could be potentially looking for a QB.

Which is great for all the teams in the top 10 that won't look for a QB
i.e. Tampa Bay, Detroit, and Kansas City
