Moeaki is so good
but he’s made of glass.
Nice to see some Clayborn love. He’s a monster.
I’d also probably scratch Doering from the guard rankings considering he’s not only out of the starting lineup, he’s was passed up for the backup job by Riley Reiff.
Luck is probability taken personally, clutch is probability attributed to individuals.

That is 100% my bad I did not even realize that about Doering.

yeah, but it's not like he sucked
both the guys that ended up in front of him are former/future left tackles.

I feel like Dan Williams might go a few places higher
he is one of the better NT’s in the draft and 3-4 teams will covet him

I would think Boo Robinson is a bit higher.
He’s fat and takes ups space, good at it too. THat usually gets you drafted.

All the DT’s I have listed I can see them going in round 4 or earlier. This is a decent draft if you need a NT.

Not really. I see some DTs but not many guys big enough to play NT

Cody, Taylor, Woods, Williams all could play NT. It’s pretty decent.

I am watching Ryan Mallet against South Carolina
goddamn does this kid play ball. He has the best play action fake I’ve ever seen on a college QB. It rivals Brett Favres, RIGHT NOW. He can work the defense with his eyes so well. Man, if he keeps it up, I can see him in the top 5. Even no. 1 overall. I’m amazed by his ability.
by birds'n'raiders on Nov 7, 2009 2:14 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
also
his accuracy has GREATLY improved. The dude has completed 37/40 passes. Knows when to check down, but still likes to show off that cannon mounted to his right shoulder. Terrific arm strength. I compare him to Joe Flacco.
by birds'n'raiders on Nov 7, 2009 2:16 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
and its his first year of starting.
I think he’s a top 5 pick. I said the first game I watched him against Georgia that he’s amazing. He’s had a few clunkers..against Florida, Alabama and Ole Miss…but 2 of those teams are the best in all of college football…with defenses taht are the best in college football. And Ole Miss is no slouch on D either.
Flacco’s a good comparison. I think once all the teams get a good look at him in the offseason, he could possibly be the #1.
It depends on where he goes if he’s going to be good. Cuz Flacco and even Matt Ryan have pretty solid O-Lines and running games to rely on, same thing with Mark Sanchez who’s 1 year starting seems to compare with Mallett.
He probably goes 1st tho, he’s definitely a Flacco clone.

He probably should go back for one more year tho....
that’s what made Flacco and Ryan such good rookies and it really even helped for the second year too.

Ponder over....
McCoy, Tebow, Snead, Pike and LeFevoure? Really? What am I missing about this guy? I have never been impressed with anything he has done.

Really Tebow and LeFevour over Ponder? What am I missing?
To me it’s a toss up between McCoy and Ponder. I’ve never been big on Pike. Snead depends on workouts his stock has taken a hit but how much is up for debate.

Seems like the safety class is potentially the deepest (depending on how many underclassmen declare, of course). I mean, you have Nate Allen ranked #9, and that’s reasonable…and Allen’s still a pretty nice prospect.
It’s funny…seems like this QB class has been so anticipated, but the more we go along, the less thrilling they seem. I think they’ll be interesting to watch.
I almost want to think a lot of them will slide, as there seems to be a murky consensus on who’s the top QB on the board, or whether or not there’s any “franchise” potential in any of them. I also wonder, given this may be the final year of elevated rookie salaries, if teams may decide it’s wiser to wait another year and try drafting a QB in 2011 and beyond, when the slotted salaries take hold (e.g., if your QB busts, better it be on a smaller contract than a Stafford-sized one).
But, never underestimate the QB position in the draft. I wasn’t convinced there was a franchise QB last year, but two QBs went in the top 5. So who knows?
by jianfu on Nov 8, 2009 9:57 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
I thought the same thing last year,
but what I think really had the biggest impact was the play of flacco and ryan. After they did so well every team wanted to draft and start a rookie qb. Freeman was thought to be a mid-2nd round prospect and was taken, what, 17th?
So I think the play of Stafford, Sanchez, and Freeman will have the biggest impact on where the qbs get drafted next year.
by Naptime! on Nov 8, 2009 11:03 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Stafford and Sanchez have played decent considering their teams aren't that good
and Freeman played good today in his first game of the year.
Gonna see a lot of QB’s go in round one, if those top 4 on this list declare, they’re all possibilities (maybe 5 with Tebow….for some reason).

Thad Lewis
Has to be at least top 15. I know I’d rather have him over Max Hall and Jarrett Brown.

I dont see anything special about him
by TheRealSlimShady on Nov 9, 2009 12:06 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah
Despite the fact he is 14th in the nation in yards, ahead of Locker and Stanzi, and only 19 yards away from Colt McCoy; has a ranking in the 140s; has more passing touchdowns than Ponder, Locker, and Robinson; and has less interceptions that Snead, Locker, Ponder, and Robinson. All of this with some of the worst receivers in college football. He has good arm strength, good accuracy, great mobility, and makes good decisions even when under pressure and throwing to receivers who get little separation.
I’m not saying draft the guy in the first round, but I really do think teams could start giving him looks in the third.

I don’t know about the third. I doubt he will get much attention though unless he has good workouts, so its hard to tell.
And those stats aren’t THAT impressive

All Im Saying
Is he puts up the same or better numbers on a weekly basis(except for last week, though it wasn’t a poor game) as the top prospects. He should have good workouts, the guy is a bit of a specimen, it wouldn’t surprise me if he ran a 4.6 forty.

The Difference
Is TT QBs have good receivers, plus that throwing to spots system. Dukes offense is a lot of shotgun, but has pro style philosophy and route designs. Plus he takes plenty of snaps from under center to be considered ready for an NFL style offense.

I'm just talking about stats
Not who has the better WR’s or the style of offense. Chase Daniel, Graham Harrell, and Joe Ganz had some impressive stats last year as well didn’t get them drafted. To me stats in college football are too inflated because of “systems”.
Draft guru in training.
by tj.hendricks on Nov 10, 2009 9:14 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Harrell couldn't throw past 5 yards
Never heard of Ganz. Daniels is 6’0. If Daniels was three inches taller he would be drafted
by Steel in FL on Nov 10, 2009 9:49 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Ganz was the QB at Nebraska
I’m not talking about size or surroundings. Just the mentions of where one is ranked in a statistical category in college ball doesn’t intrigue me. Too many “system” guys and all.
You can mention plenty about Thad Lewis besides mentioning stats such as 14th in the nation in total yards, 19 passing yards away from Colt McCoy, and less interceptions than Stanzi and Snead. Well Max Hall has a 70% completion compared to Lewis 62% and has a higher rating by 31 points does that mean Max Hall should be taken ahead of Thad Lewis? No. Stats aren’t sh!t.

Kyle McCarthy is 25th?
I don’t follow any of these other guys, so I don’t necessarily know what I’m talking about here. But, man, all he does is make every tackle ever and pick off passes to end games. Is it just because the rest of the ND defense is so terrible that it’s making him look better to me? Please don’t answer that – I’m still trying to get over the Navy game.
