San Francisco 49ers Mock Draft
*thanks to user sigma for typing this all out; I haven't the time but feel the same way and am not nearly as good as explaining without rambling*
The 49ers game against the Philadelphia Eagles exposed the teams three main shortcomings.
- Putrid play from the offensive line.
Adam Synder was pathetic at RT. David Baas inability to stop the rush provides a key weakness in the teams backside.
- Defensive backfield breaks down
San Francisco’s secondary has been littered with injuries this year; further complicating matters is an aging corp of safeties that’s having trouble keeping up with the pass attack or assisting in QB containment (which there wasn’t much of against McNabb)
-Receiver Wideout Wipeout
Last night’s game featured receivers who can’t catch the ball (Davis and Morgan), receivers who don’t go after the ball (Davis), receivers who fumble the ball (Walker), receivers who jump offsides and kill drives with stupid plays (Walker), and my favorite of all – receivers who don’t fight for for those extra couple of yards to get the first down (MORGAN!).
Other Needs
-There have been calls for a change of pace back, something I think that could be effective gotten out of F/A (Reggie Bush… line one).
Now on to the draft. I feel that it is in our best interest to either trade our top pick or 2nd 1st rounder down to around 20-22. Doing this will allow us to pick up a 2nd round pick from this team as well. I do not know if a team would do this; this is just my scenario.
I propose this scenario for us (letter next to the # represents the "place" of the pick in the round):
1B: Anthony Davis (OT)
1C: Mike Iupati (OG)
2A: Donovan Warren (CB)
2B: BPA
3A: Eric Decker (WR)
3B: BPA
4A: Jordan Shipley (PR/WR)- Slot.
4B: Jordan Lake (FS-Baylor, no one pays Baylor any attention)
*with one of these BPAs, I feel we should draft a change of pace back if we do not get one in the offseason ex. reggie bush or darren sproles*
Any Niner fans in here have any thoughts on what you want our draft to be like? Any comments on my draft?

Jordan Shipley is projectable as a 4th round pick?

I think he'll go latest round 3
and if he shows good route running, and hands…possibly 2nd.
The slot WR is an art..and Shipley seems perfect for that position.

Shipley
Reminds me of Mike Furrey; during his good years in Detroit, if its possible to be good playing for the Lions.

Bjf, lay off the Lions and worry about the Jags making the playoffs instead.
I cheer for the jags as my AFC team. Save your trash talk for your opponents.
Ha
Jags are beating the Pats. I got a feeling.

Great song
Lil Wayne’s no ceilings version made it even better. Ha

I hate the original song, but I haven’t listened to Weezy’s version. What I’ve heard of No Ceilings is pretty tight though.

Yeah
The whole mixtape is sweet. There isn’t a song on there that I haven’t listened to at least 50 times.

Gotta say...
I saw the Eagles game too..its really wasn’t so much these guys couldn’t block, as stupid play calling.
These guys are good run blockers, but the passing O playcalls don’t help them out.
The way to beat a team like the Eagles is screen passes and short quick throws.
What the Niners did was run roll outs with Alex Smith, and the DL’s are too fast.
it was more Alex Smith and the OC that screwed up that game.

Two O-Lineman in round 1?
I see your coach as picking up one defensive player out of the two selections. A top notch DB will be available. Isee that and an OT for your first two picks. But you can’t go wrong picking top talent that early unless your draft people are really dumb. So far Singletary has not shown he is dumb. What would you do if one of the top three QB’s happen to fall?
Sorry, I read your draft wrong.
You were trading 10 for 22.
first I would do it differently. I would keep 10 and trade pick 11. This way you get your top guy for sure. But why trade away the #11 when you can get the best talent available for the position you need most.
If you see no talent differentiation between the players at 10 and 20 then your trade idea makes a lot of sense to me. Trades are always difficult to predict but I don’t see a player outside of the top 6 players that any team will move up that far to get. It usually depends on someone really wanting a QB. Very hard to tell

I don’t like when people include trades here

What else do we have to do
I don’t mind talking trades but people have to keep on point. When the draft value chart is used it usually takes the wind out of most trade ideas. But its a long time till April so we need to do something to keep occupied.

How about
Instead of trading the picks you take Davis and Joe Haden at 10 and 11. Then take another OT/OG prospect in the 2nd round?
Haden?....please no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
True knowledge is knowing you know nothing!
Trade up for Berry Scot it's the move to make. "Who is Berry?"..............Here we go again!!
