Panthers mock draft.
The panthers haven't been the best greatest this year most of it is injuries and a bad OC/QB. I'm putting in compensation picks at best and hoping for huge plummets.
2nd WR Golden Tate
The reason I want Tate is he's a miny Steve Smith and we need a good number 2 WR.
3rd CB/KR/PR Javier Arenas
Our ST is abysmal we need a good return man and Arenas can help with other ST.
comp 3rd DT/DE Marvin Austin
Physical freak who is good value and we need help at DT. Also in goaline he might be able to kick out to end.
4th DT Vince Oghabasse
I just like this guy and he could go in the late1st to early 2nd so this is great value and a just like this guy.
4th LT Jason Fox
Will miss the bowl game and senior bowl with injuries so that could drop his stock more than you think.
6th BPA
We just need the best player available here.
7th QB/WR/Wildcat Specialist Armanti Edwards
The Wildcat originated in NC even though it caught fire in Miami and for us it's just way to predictable. RUN! RUN! RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!
FA pickups
QB Jason Campbell
A QB to compete with Matt Moore for the starting job.
WR Vincent Jackson
I hope we get him or Brandon Marshall one will make it to FAs.

Nice choices, but...
… for red-zone offense you might want to think about the wisdom of having two short wide-outs as your #1 and #2— do you think that Moose and DJarrett will carry the receiving load from the 20 yard line and on in to the end zone?
I guess I see Marvin Austin gone by the comp picks in the 3rd, don’t think he’s available then.

It's really weird to see Jason Fox as a first round pick in some mocks and a 4th in this scenario

Without a new collective bargaining agreement (and it’s looking like a lock that there won’t be one), Vincent Jackson will be a restricted free agent and so will Brandon Marshall. Both those guys aren’t going anywhere. And if you were signing one of them, why would you still draft a WR in the 2nd round?
Marvin Austin, Jason Fox and Vince Oghobasse are rather optimistic selections. Zero percent chance you could actually draft all three where you have them. Maybe one or even two of those guys drops past the 3rd round, but I don’t think they are likely enough to be available to include them in a one team mock where you have them.
I signed up for Second Life about a year ago. Back then my life was so great that I literally wanted a second one. In my Second Life I was also a paper salesman and I was also named Dwight. Absolutely everything was the same. Except I could fly. - Dwight Schrute

So You Want
Two new QBs to be signed, or just one?

In that case
That would be good if the Panthers could get Campbell for relatively cheap.

My two cents
I see Arenas, Fox, and Austin all as 2nd rounders so you would definately be getting some steals.
Bears suck, Cubs suck, Bulls suck, Illini suck, who would have thought the Blackhawks would be my best shot at a title.

ninerfan here
thanks again for that first round pick
DREAM DRAFT:
1a. Best OT available (Bulaga/Davis/Campbell)
1b. CJ Spiller or trade down to ~20 and get an extra 2nd rounder
2. Whoever our FO likes as best CB available. Maybe Donovan Warren/Trevor Lindley.
3. BPA
4. Jordan Shipley. Maybe even 3rd round.
5-7. BPA

Darn that’s Orakpo…Thanks again.

Brown only plays on pass rushing situations
He’s gotten good pressure at times, and he is ranked second in the NFC among rookie DL in sacks and first in forced fumbles, I think. If I’m correct, doesn’t SF have trouble with pressuring the QB? Too bad you have to wait until this year to get a pass rusher. We got ours a year early.

Actually, I looked it up
Orakpo plays LB, Brown is first among NFC rookie DL in sacks, and first in fumbles forced. Much better than say, Aaron Maybin, a similar player taken in the first. Again I say, enjoy that first, you’re going to need it, we got ours a year earlier.

You really need to be a little more realistic than this.
Austin at the end of the third round? Nuh huh.
Oghobaase at the middle of the fourth? No chance.
Jason Fox at the end of the fourth? Nice try.
Why don’t you trade all those picks up and get a top ten pick in the first round? Just about as realistic.

Don't put it past Carolina
Hurney likes to trade, be it up or down, he’s pulled off a trade in most of his drafts.

Why would they Plummet?
Every team would like to pick up the players you mentioned in the middle rounds. My question is if the players plummeted would that mean they did poorly in the combine? Scored terrible on their IQs? Poor workout performances? Would you want them even if they earned these lower round ratings or are you just hoping to steal high rated players?
Hey, we all would love to steal a player in the draft ( Brandon Marshall, Miles Austin, ect). I wish your team all the luck in the world, even after the thrashing you put on my Vikes.

You aren’t getting Brandon Marshall. You have a chance at those others but that doesn’t mean u will.

No way ohgobasse, austin , and fox last that long. Maybe even Tate

If you had told me before the draft that Duke Robinson would fall to the fifth
I would have laughed at you. Player’s fall every season that no one expects too, and while this draft is fairly, um, optimistic, don’t outrule it just because they are rated high NOW. A lot will change in the next few months.

LaFell to the Panthers
If no one beats you to him. Oh wait you don’t have a first rounder. Best WR avail with your first pick. Say goodbye to Peppers though.

Peppers could still re-sign long term
It looks like he is enjoying Meeks scheme, and if it weren’t for a hand injury earlier this year, he’d be in the top five in sacks.

What do you mean Tate is a “miny” Steve Smith. I am guessing you mean mini but Tate is taller than Smith.
by TheRealSlimShady on Dec 27, 2009 12:09 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Tate is not even in the same class as Smith, even as a rookie.

Yeah kinda like the giants one
Only he’s bigger and plays different.

Tate's bigger
but he plays similar, he has the same run after the catch and big play ability. Anyone similar to Smitty gets the prefix of “mini”, just because no one can have his type of impact. ; )
