Ravens Mock Draft

I assume we draft around #20.  but there is no guarantee we beat PIT or the Raiders which could have us drafting mid teens.  This mock has Ravens drafting 20.    Ravens needs are primary CB and WR.   Could use another pass rusher, MLB ( to understudy for a year) , TE and RB.

1.   At #20 Brandon Spikes  This is a bit of surprise pick  would get playing time and could understudy Ray

2.  CB  In this order if available Brandon Ghee, Ras Dowling, or Arenas  one of these will be available

3.  WR  Marty Gilyard  ( I have him as about the 8th WR and  should be available  These WR's should be off the board 1. Bryand, 2 Lafell,3. Benn, 4. Williams,    5. Tate,  6. Decker  7. Shipply,  8 Briscoe   If Marty is not availble and any one of these guys are availble , ravens take them with third pick.

4.WR Danaro Alexander should be availble   if not and WR cooper is availble take him

5. DE Koa Misi  this may be wishful thinking for him to be available but he is not getting much attention in mock drafts

6 WR Mike Williams Syracuse  No telling where his head is    If Mike is not available and RB Blount  is Ravens could go running back

7. TE Dickerson Dorin Pit    This could be a steal  Dorn is undersized for Te but is an athelete and can find in zone

Pretty good. Spikes could probably start next to The Murderer.

Get over it

He didn’t do it. He plead guilty to obstruction of justice, to cover his friend’s ass. He didn’t do it.

U really think Tate is 5th best?

My List

Bryant, Benn, Tate, Lafell, Gilyard, Decker

tate 5th best

yes but not sure If Decker looks completely recovered, he could jump him. Briscoe has the talent but I believe GM’’s are alittle concerned and he will go in third. Shippley and Tate have both been very productive but I believe Tate goes first.

Why don’t you have him higher?

Cool Draft

Brandon Ghee should be available in the second. I think he looks like the perfect 2nd corner, especially in a zone based scheme. If Mel Blount re-enters I can see the Ravens taking him. Low risk in the later rounds, and is powerful like the Ravens like.

Ravens

Being a Steelers fan I don’t really care, but from my perspective this looks a pretty good mock but I wouldn’t wait til the 3rd round to pick up a reciever. Mardy Gilliard will probably be there in the 3rd but I’d address it in the 2nd and try to pick up someone like Golden Tate or Jordan Shipley if he pans out to be a top talent. 3rd could be to pick up a good cb like Javier Areans or someone like that.

Ravens picks

Your propossal is certainly logical. I am not sure Areans will be there in the third but he would be someone the Ravens like- plays hard and does not take plays off. He is one of the least experienced CB’s and they may look for CB with a little more size and experience,

Nice but

If LaFell is available in the first round wouldn’t you take him over a defensive player? I know Flacco is voting for him.

Nice need analysis for the Ravens

Lafell

Ravens would give that pick alots of consideration. At first look, seems to be a better way to go, but Spikes could be the face of Defence in future.

Your right

Spikes might be great or he might not. Only Ozzie knows. Its hard to see them passing on LaFell though. There WR corps needs a nice target. Anyway they can always trust Ozzie to do the right thing.

As the Ravens Blogger

on Baltimore Beatdown, I do not see Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome spending a 1st rounder on a WR, as he has gotten burned in the past doing that (Travis Taylor, Mark Clayton). The Ravens needs in my order are DE, CB, WR, TE, Depth. We have a glut of LB’s so they wouldn’t dare do that. Unless a top, big, tall and fast CB is on the board when we pick (at 29-30, after losing to the Colts in the AFC Championship Game!), there might not be a CB (or WR) worth it but I’ve been saying all along our biggest need is a pure pass rusher. Depending on what we do in Free Agency will obviously determine where they go with their pick.

Depending on our pass rushing needs, what do you see as the best for us picking anywhere from 20-30?

Biggest question mark of the draft

You ask a very interesting question. The Ravens draft is so dependent on the Free Agency status of their players. 4 out of 5 Wide Receivers are potential FA. 2 out of 5 OTs, 1 out of 3 Guards, and 1 out of 2 centers. Defensively only 2 out of 4 DEs,and 2 out of 6 Cornerbacks are FAs. Ozzie has gotten into a pickle and is being held hostage by the Collective Bargaining Agreement process.

Assuming a new CBA is in place and all FA’s become FAs I think WR is the most important need for the Ravens. I’m not sure you really want to resign many of your WRs. Obviously he can fill 4 positions lower in the draft but does that really get Flacco and the offense what he deserves? I see a quality 28th pick in Golden Tate. He is a clone of Derrick Mason. Maybe a taller receiver is available. Hard to tell. Otherwise I think you need a new CB. But just like the Vikings it is impossible to find one left in the draft in the late first round. Same with an OT. A pass rusher might be available but it sure isn’t as big as need as other positions.

I think the Ravens have the most difficult draft of anyone this year because of the large amounts of potential FAs on their team. How do you see this problem?

I don't think Gilyard will be there in the third and I see you guys taking LaFell

I think he would be a nice 3rd down target and he is what you guys wanted in TO. I don’t think the Ravens will wait on the WR unless spikes is there for your first pick, then I see you may take Gilyard in the 2nd, no way he is there at the 3rd he makes plays.

True knowledge is knowing you know nothing!

Trade up for Berry Scot it's the move to make. "Who is Berry?"..............Here we go again!!
