Demaryius Thomas

Demaryius Thomas was quoted after the ACC championship as saying that he was "Coming back" so there is a high profile receiver off the board.

http://espn.go.com/blog/acc/post/_/id/7525/jackets-clinch-bcs-bowl-bid-under-johnson

Perhaps this is a response to his recent  drops but all I know is that it is good news for the Jackets and bad news for teams looking for a big time play maker at wide receiver.

Once rookie cap whispers

return all these guys that are thinking of staying well……

I worry about his route-running

by TheRealSlimShady on Dec 6, 2009 2:57 PM EST reply actions

I am a GT fan and that would be a legit concern...

The only routes he is ever asked to run are deep sideline routes, comebacks, and smoke routes. He could use some more polishing and I am glad he is coming back for selfish reasons as well.

If I had a nickel for every Super Bowl the Eagles have won, I would have zero nickels.

Still don’t believe it, Donald Brown said he was returning last year. Where is he now? The Colts.

Draft guru in training.

by tj.hendricks on Dec 6, 2009 3:05 PM EST reply actions

I dunno....

he’s too damn good to stay in school.

I doubt cuz of the way the league is with taking first round WR lately, that next year he’ll be much higher a pick that he will be this year.

..also, like blaze says..rookie scale (…tho, for a 2nd rounder like he probably is, not gonna affect much).

Plus next year (if he stays) he would compete with Michael Floyd, AJ Green, Julio Jones, etc.

Exactly

Dark horse outta that group.

BTSC Obituaries

OldManSteeler, ominously died two days before Superbowl 123 where the Ravens are set to attempt their 7th superbowl win, facing the Detroit Lions on Sunday. He was 86. His last words are believed to be "MALOR CAN SUCK IT!!!". Like friends and family, we can only guess what this could mean.

Thomas

makes up for his lack of route running with his devastating blocking ability. He may be a first round pick.

by birds'n'raiders on Dec 7, 2009 2:00 PM EST reply actions

and for some reason...

I have this overwhelming feeling that he will be a Carolina Panther…I’m not sure why, but it seems like a good fit.

by birds'n'raiders on Dec 7, 2009 2:01 PM EST up reply actions

blocking ability...

should not be underrated.

I know that’s probably the only reason the GIants miss Plaxico and Toomer, they were great blockers.

Thomas could start right away just cuz of that.

Yeah

Xept Plax was also one of the best receivers in the league at going up for jump balls. The Giants have to miss that some.

yes he was...

in practice.

Media myth the Plax jump ball was.

Rare that it ever happened/worked.

He broke up a lot of interceptions, and caught quite a few here in Pittsburgh.

by Phantaskippy on Dec 7, 2009 10:55 PM EST up reply actions

that he did.

Plax knew how to play DB when the pass was uncatchable for himself.

Don’t get me wrong, he was very good to great with the Giants.

Its just, the idea that he was this jump ball master, even at 6"6, for the Giants is just false. He didn’t do it all that much..dunno if it was Eli or just he was coverd (little bit of both).

Plax...

I still have nightmares of Plax pwning our secondary EVERY SINGLE GAME. My regards go out to him and whats left of his leg.

by birds'n'raiders on Dec 7, 2009 8:28 PM EST reply actions

yea, Plax liked to play against the Eagles.

That’s another thing I miss about him.

THe Giants team right now seems to love to go up against the Cowboys and get up for them…its the Eagles that for some reason they forget about.

Hopefully (well..for me at least)…they realize that the Eagles are just as formidable and at least come out to play.

They do that, they can play with anyone.

"It ain't over till its over"---

by FreeBradshaw on Dec 7, 2009 8:52 PM EST up reply actions

well,

I look forward to a great game with the Giants on Sunday. But since you’ve been Plax-less, you guys are 0-3 against us. He absolutly demolished us every game…What ever happened to Ramses Barden? Hell, we traded you guys that pick. He was supposed to be the new Plax, right?

by birds'n'raiders on Dec 8, 2009 9:35 AM EST up reply actions

Yes, you have beaten the hell out of us post-Plax.

Yet, to be honest, given the way the BEast series are, that’s a reason to think the Giants have a good chance, even if everything else says the Eagles are better right now.

As for Barden, I see him a lot like Manningham last year. The only reason why Hakeem Nicks is playing, is cuz he’s Hakeem the Dream, complete with Dream Shake. He didn’t play against you guys last time, but I’m thinking he could have a big role. He’s been largely underutilized lately, but I think they may try to get him the ball more.

Barden is more of a project that seems like next year will be his time. Same probably goes for Travis Beckum (Asante Samuel’s route jump INT was the last I’ve seen of Travis this year actually….)

Then again…Barden may be active at some point this year, possibly they unveil him against the Eagles?

fortunatly for us

Joselio Hanson is fresh off his 4 week suspension for star-caps, as well as Akeem “The Dream” Jordan, our second best linebacker this season, and DJax.

by birds'n'raiders on Dec 8, 2009 10:54 AM EST up reply actions

yup.

Tho…

we got Canty, who was probably reason #1 why the Giants destroy the Cowboys run game (….yes ESPN Tom Jackson, teh Cowboys tried to run..they couldn’t cuz the Giants were a brick wall)

We got Boley, who while he hasn’t exactly been great against good TE’s like Celek, makes a great play every now and then and well, he hasn’t had much time in the Giants D so its taking time.

We also got Aaron Rouse, who was Reason 1A why the run was ineffective. He had about 9,000 tackles Sunday.

Also, Jon Goff in one game pretty much ended all spec. on if the Giant need a future MLB…he IS their future MLB.

The Giants retooled their D. It didn’t look that way if you look at the stats, but they were definitely a different unit and drastically different from the one you guys saw a few weeks ago.

Should be interesting. I expect a closer game, at the very least.
