Scouting report: Sen'Derrick Marks
Sen'Derrick Marks
6'2, 302 pounds | Auburn | Defensive tackle
Strengths: Built powerfully in his lower body wit a low center of gravity. Keeps low to get under opponents. Athletic for a defensive tackle. Quick off the snap which allows him to get good position on linemen. Uses his hands well to beat blocks. Looks like he'll fit best as a three-technique tackle. Closes quickly and violently on the ball carrier. Works hard playing sideline-to-sideline. One of the leaders of Auburn's defense. Began his career at Auburn as a defensive end.
Weaknesses: Marks is a player who should have returned for his senior season. If he would have, he could have possibly become a first-round pick. Although Marks needs to get much stronger in his upper body, it's unknown if his frame can carry much more weight. Because of his lack of upper body strength, guards who get into his frame can move him around. Struggles to take on double teams. Durability is a slight concern.
Final word: Even following a disappointing junior season, Marks elected to enter the draft. While he certainly has the skill and potential, he should have probably returned for his senior season. He flashes a lot of athleticism and quickly, but has some real upper body strength issues. Slowed by ankle injuries during his junior season. Could begin his career as a backup, but will see time in pass rush situations. Had 10.5 tackles for a loss and two sacks during his junior year.
