Scouting report: Juaquin Iglesias
Juaquin Iglesias
6’0, 204 pounds | Oklahoma | Wide receiver
Strengths: Iglesias is an intelligent receiver who runs goods routes and reads defenses nicely. Has very good quickness to get off the line or to snap off a route to get open. Runs sharp routes. Good hands; consistently catches the ball away from his body. A tough receiver will to go inside on slants. Has some experience returning punts and kicks. Nice vision after the catch.
Weaknesses: Lacks great straight-line speed to gain separation. Will never be a deep threat at the next level. Wasn’t really ever the go-to receiver for Oklahoma. Early in his career, most of the attention went to Malcolm Kelly. During his senior year, opponents left him in single coverage, keying on the run and tight end Jermaine Gresham. Struggles breaking tackles. Due to his questionable strength, there is some curiosity as to how he’ll do against bump and run coverage in the NFL.
Final word: Iglesias is a nice receiver who doesn’t really stick out in games. He’s not dominant, but consistently plays well. His lack of speed will hurt him as scouts fall in love with physical attributes. While not a No. 1 receiver, Iglesias could be a dependable complementary receiver in the pros.
