Post Combine Mock Draft
Hello Mocking the Draft. I'm one of the writers at BattleRedBlog, the Houston Texans SB Nation site. We at BRB thoroughly enjoy the content you do here, and appreciate your insight.
Free Agency has been incredibly busy, and has undoubtably changed the draft because teams have either filled needs by signing players, or have new needs due to players leaving for other teams. While this is important to consider, we won't know the full impact of all these free agent acquisitions until shortly before the draft.
The 2009 NFL Scouting Combine, however, changed the rankings for the draft prospects themselves. With good performances, they can leapfrog other players at their position. With great performances, they can suddenly apear on a team's radar that were not previously interested in their position early in the draft, if at all.
I know the Combine has been over for almost a week, but I noticed there wasn't a lot of reviews on the scouting event around SB Nation. I tried my best to analyze all the Combine coverage shown on NFL Network, which was Day Two, Day Three, Day Four, and Day Five. Ufortunately I didn't get a chance to watch the last day of the Combine, Day Six.
After watcing all of this Combine coverage, there was little I could think of besides the draft. Since so much will change betwen now and April 26th, I decided to do a Post-Combine Mock Draft to have as a refference. Even though it is partially outdated already because of the multitude of high profile develpments since the start of free agency, I thought some of you might be interested in seeing it and sharing your thoughts.

I just looked at it
I thought all of it made a lot of sense and was well thought out. The biggest eye opener to me was Everette Brown at #3. What makes him such an appealing prospect to you?

Not to me, to them
I personally think that Orakpo is the better prospect, but I think that if you look at the way hat certain franchises draft, they really take injury hisotry into account. New England is one of those franchises, and since Pioli just came from there, I think he’ll take injuries seriously.
Also, some people mght think they might not go DE/OLB with the first pick now that they have Vrabel, but I still think there’s a good chance they’ll take either Orakpo or Brown with the 3rd pick. The only player that would change that would be whatever OT is left that is highest on their board.
Let's get the Texans a better fight song.

Free agency has made me re-do my mock twice
So I’m just holding off for now. I liked your’s though. Great analysis. It was also refreshing to see Seattle take someone other than Crabtree. I’m still not sure I’m ready to go out on the limb.
I liked the trade, too. I usually avoid those, but this one made sense. If Detroit came away from the first round with either a QB/OLB or a QB/OT, I think they’ll start turning things around.
