Scouting report: Jeremiah Johnson

Jeremiah Johnson

5'9, 208 pounds | Oregon | Running back

Strengths:
Johnson's biggest asset is his quickness. He can effortlessly cut in the open field without losing any speed. Keeps good balance when he gets hit. Although he did not get to display it, Johnson has good hands and doesn't catch the ball with his body. Coaches considered him good enough in 2007 to split carries with Jonathan Stewart of the Carolina Panthers. Knows he's a change-of-pace back and a limited role won't upset him.

Star-divide

Weaknesses: What really holds Johnson back is a lack of top speed. For a player his size, that might knock him completely off some team's draft boards. Tries to get outside too often, which could be a problem at the next level. Gets taken down too easily when opponents get their hands on him. Because of his size, Johnson struggles in pass protection. Has had serious knee surgery and was banged up in 2008.

Final word: Johnson only played in six games in 2007 before tearing his ACL. As a senior, he battled nagging should and hip problems but still had a productive year. In 2008, he had 1,252 yards and 13 touchdowns. For his career, Johnson averaged seven yards a carry and had 30 touchdowns.

Round projection: 5
