Scouting report: Ramses Barden

Ramses Barden

6'6, 224 pounds | Cal Poly | Wide receiver

Strengths:
The most noticeable strength Barden possesses is his height and long arms. He uses his frame intelligently to block out defensive backs to get at the ball. Displays the athleticism and agility to make hard catches away from his body. Has good high-point agility to routinely catch the ball at the high point. Does a good job of flipping his hips and turning up field after the catch. Will go over the middle and doesn't mind getting hit. Good but not great hands.

Star-divide

Weaknesses: Given his size, Barden should do a better job after the catch of breaking tackles. He has an angular frame and may need to bulk up in the 230-pound range. Will struggle to get off the line because he doesn't have great quickness. Won't run away from a lot of defenders. Poor level of competition.

Final word: Barden was excellent at Cal Poly, but might only be a possession receiver in the pros. His tools are intriguing enough to warrant a top-100 selection. Some will compare him to Plaxico Burress, but that's not an apt comparison because he doesn't have Burress' flashiness. Finished his career with 206 receptions, 4,203 yards and 50 touchdowns.

Round projection: 3
