Mel Kiper's latest mock has a few surprises
Mel Kiper Jr., venerable draft guru and helmet hair overlord of ESPN, has released his latest mock draft.
This one is of the four-round variety.
A couple surprises in the firs round, including Robert Ayers of Tennessee going to Buffalo 11th overall. I personally don't see it. If someone can explain the intrigue of Ayers to me, please do.
He also has Kenny Britt at No. 22, which is higher than I've seen most anywhere else.
Another surprise is Michael Johnson. I can't seem to find a consensus on this guy at all. Personally, I have him ranked in the top 20 overall as a player. Kiper has him going 53rd.
Other surprises:
- Pat White going in the second round to New England
- Patrick Chung dropping to the third
- Donald Washington, who is terrible, going in the third
- Asher Allen dropping to the third
- A fullback being taken in the first four rounds
What I like most about Kiper's mock is the influence it will have on readers. Check it out and then watch how other people's mocks start to resemble his. It's very interesting.

I linked his Colts picks over at SB
I hope he’s right about Jerry dropping to Indy.
The rest of the picks were ok, but not my ideals.
I got Summer hatin' on me cuz I'm hotter than the sun. Spring hatin' on me cuz I ain't never sprung
Winter hatin' on me cuz I'm colder than Y'all. And I will never, I will never, I will never Fall.

Johnson as your #20.... hmmm...
Someday, when contestants are asked (told?) on Jeopardy who the famous silhouette is in the Mocking the Draft logo, I think I’ll answer “Michael Johnson!” The resemblance is eerie…
Amnesty, the idea that you can forgive transgressions against you, gives as much to one side, as it does the other. It has the noble quality of bestowing mercy to both parties.
There is no army so powerful as an idea whose time has come.

Perhaps it’s because he played opposite Malcolm Jenkins and had the ball thrown at him more, but it just always seemed like he was giving up plays. He’s really just an athlete, not much of a football player. I think he had two interceptions in 32 games started? That’s not good.
I’m also concerned some about that two-game suspension he had. He’s a guy who should have come back. I’ll be really surprised if he goes in the third round.
