Scouting report: Ian Johnson
Ian Johnson
5'11, 198 pounds | Boise State | Running back
Strengths: Johnson is a hard working player with good character. With the ball in his hands, Johnson displays excellent instincts and could fit well in a single-cut zone-blocking scheme. He's incredibly quick, which allows him to make sharp cuts before hitting the hole. Keeps good balance after getting hit.
Weaknesses: Johnson may not have the size to handle more than five or 10 carries a game at the next level. Because of bulk issues, he may not be a contributor on special teams. He had some durability concerns at Boise State, including a bruised kidney in 2007 and a collapsed lung in 2006.
Final word: Johnson is a gamer. He's much better on game days than practice days, thanks in large part to his competitive spirit. While he may not be as good as some people thought following his 1,755-yard storybook sophomore season, Johnson is better than his 766-yard senior year.
