Scouting report: Jarrett Dillard
Jarrett Dillard
5'10, 185 pounds | Rice | Wide receiver
Strengths: Dillard is a top athlete for a wide receiver with great body control. Dillard has really good hands and showed the ability to make difficult catches. Has deceptive quickness to beat james and get open. Appears to be a very intelligent player who can pick apart zone coverage by finding a hole and sitting in it.
Weaknesses: What holds Dillard back the most is a lack of size and strength. He's also not a blazing receiver. Given those two things, you wonder where he'd fit in the NFL because the slot might not suit him the best. At Rice, he didn't have to run a full route tree and could be limited in what he does his first few years in the NFL. Doesn't have great deep speed.
Final word: At Rice, Dillard was the picture of productivity, finishing his career with 292 receptions for 4,138 yards and 60 touchdowns. That earned him All-American honors in 2006 and 2008. While he may be a product of Rice's wide-open spread offense, his hands and quickness make him an intriguing third option.
Round projection: 3
