Scouting report: Cary Harris
Cary Harris
6'0, 188 pounds | Southern California | Cornerback
Strengths: Harris sticks out as a cornerback prospect because of his height and long arms. Like most USC players, Harris is a sound tackler. He also plays with a lot of aggression. Has a technically sound backpedal and keeps low. Shows good instincts and reads the quarterback's eyes well. Likes to help in run support.
Weaknesses: While Harris has plus height for the position, he's lacking some bulk. Doesn't have great speed. Hands are poor. Doesn't make a lot of interceptions. When he has to flip his hips and turn, he looks a little stiff in coverage. Has serious durability issues after having arthroscopic surgery on both ankles prior to the 2008 season. Sat out some games in 2008 with a hamstring problem.
Final word: Has was twice named to honorable mention All Pac-10. He finished his career with 143 tackles, 18 pass breakups and five sacks. He's a reliable corner against the run, but is limited because of his lack of agility and speed.
Round projection: 4
