Scouting report: Pat White

Pat White

6'0 192 pounds | West Virginia | Quarterback

Strengths:
White has great speed and quickness and will have to make his mark at the next level as a multi-position player. Shows explosiveness and agility in the open field. Routinely made defenders miss. Accurate when throwing the ball on the move. Good arm strength. Started for four years. Good character.

Weaknesses: White doesn't have the height or bulk to be a quarterback full time at the next level. Likes to roll outside of the pocket too much. Has a slow delivery that allows defenders to break on the ball easily. Took snaps from the shotgun most of his career. Rarely went through his progressions. Not tough, which dispels comparisons to Josh Cribbs. Unproven completely as a receiver. Had some minor durability problems and was banged up throughout his career.

Final word: If a team takes a gamble on White, they'll get an amazing talent who will be a project. He had a stellar collegiate career, passing for 6,049 yards and rushing for 4,842.

Round projection: 3

Yes to white

I enjoy watching White play at West Virginia and my gut tells me that the height issue is a major problem for him when NFL teams look at him. But the kids has an accurate pass. I’m not one to just judge how well he will play only based on his height. But I think if given a change he will do well in the NFL

I’m not incredibly concerned about his height because I didn’t really grade him strictly as a quarterback. What concerns me about him is his build. He’s pretty thin. Josh Cribbs, for example is 215 pounds.

Did White set the NCAArecord

for most wins by a QB in NCAA Div. I history, by virtue of starting for four years for such a consistently good program?
