Scouting report: Patrick Turner
Patrick Turner
6'5, 220 pounds | Southern California | Wide receiver
Strengths: For a split end, Turner has excellent size and surprising athleticism. He runs good, crisp routes. Displays good ball skills and the ability to catch the ball outside of his frame. Uses his natural strength to beat the jam. Strong after the catch.
Weaknesses: Probably a possession receiver only because of his lack of speed and quickness. Doesn't display the ability to separate. Not as good of a blocker as his size would indicate. Was a top recruit who didn't quite live up to the hype. Just a two-year starter.
Final word: For better or worse, Turner is the latest in the growing line of tall and powerful USC receivers. Although Turneer didn't have as productive of a career as predecessor Dwayne Jarrett and Mike Williams, Turner is a better prospect. He's a much better route runner and shows more determination.
Round projection: 6
