2010 NFL Draft rankings: Strong safeties

Ericberry_medium

Today starts the unveiling of the 2010 NFL Draft rankings. Here's how it's going to work. Because juniors won't declare for quite some time, the junior and senior rankings will be separated.

And because most of 2008 was spent watching players who would be in the draft, some of these won't be huge lists. For instance, the strong safety rankings feature six seniors and four juniors. Conversely, the defensive end senior rankings will have 20 seniors listed. After all the positional rankings are revealed, a top 200 will be put out.

Find the strong safety rankings here and feel free to talk about them and add suggestions in this thread.

Eric Berry is a SS,

yet compares to Ed Reed? Isn’t Reed a FS? Or is Berry just so versatile that he can play both.

Mays seems more like a SS type to me, I think he just played FS because their LB/S combo guy played SS (forgot his name, I just know he was drafted mid round this year).

McCoy McCoy 2010, also acceptable, Russell Okung, Ndamukong Suh, Dez Bryant, Ciron Black, Eric Berry, and Bryan Bulaga.

Ed Reed was a SS for his first four years in the league

moved to FS when the Ravens drafted Dawan Landry. Ed reed is good enough to play both, possibly at the same time.

- where do you stand on the mays vs berry debate (and is there really any debate?)

- where do you think rolle would have went in this years draft? Is the possibility he is going to leave the game early to persue other interests going to scare away teams in the draft? Is a year away from the game??

- other than Berry which of these players do you see as first round talent??

-Berry > Mays. Period. Mays can hit but he isnt as great at covering. Berry has more talent than anyone in the 2010 class.

I don’t know that there is a debate because they’re such different players. If you want an intimidating thumper in the secondary, Mays is your guy. If you want someone with great coverage skills, it’s Berry.

I’d have Rolle as the top strong safety. He’s not an elite player, though. No idea if he’d quit football early.

It depends how he continues to develop, but may Burnett. The seniors don’t do a whole lot for me.

Myron Rolle was a Strong Safety? I guess I was reading my programs wrong as FSU

I guess so. He is certainly a strong safety.

Oh Boy...

That was supposed to be a reply to FSBlue… I guess my failure to do that properly was instant karma!
