The cure at quarterback: Washington

No other position in the NFL Draft carries more prestige than quarterback. Looking ahead to the 2010 draft, several teams could be looking at for a new signal caller. During the offseason, we're going to breakdown what teams could be going after a new quarterback following this season.

Who:
Washington Redskins
Currently have: Jason Campbell, Colt Brennan, Todd Collins, Chase Daniel

Breakdown: Campbell has been the starter for the Redskins for the past two and a half seasons after being taken 25th overall in the 2005 NFL Draft. The price Washington paid to get Campbell was moderately steep, giving up a first-, third- and fourth-round pick to Denver.

Campbell's career has been uneven. While he threw for 3,245 yards last season, he only had 13 touchdowns. That may is partly due to Washington's scheme, but Campbell had just five touchdown passes over Washington's final eight games of 2008. Washington was 2-6 during that stretch.

In Campbell's defense, new head coach Jim Zorn introduced a new West Coast offense to the Redskins in 2008. He's also had some small injury problems.

Brennan is a former sixth-round pick and all-time great NCAA quarterback. He was stellar in the preseason last year but never saw the field during the regular season. It would be interesting to see what he could do against NFL starters.

Collins is a decent backup who signed a three-year deal in 2008. Daniel is more than likely an undrafted camp arm.

Why that's not good enough: Because owner Daniel Snyder is impatient. Instead of giving Campbell the offense this season, like he was promised, Snyder made a few attempts to add a new quarterback.

First Washington was heavily involved in the Jay Cutler trade talks. After that fell through. Snyder set his sights on Mark Sanchez. Unable to trade up in the 2009 NFL Draft, the team seems like its settling on Campbell. That's not good for still-maturing player's psyche.

Brennan has flashed potential, but has a funky delivery and is very slender. The team clearly doesn't have confidence in Campbell and could be in the Sam Bradford/Jevan Snead/Colt McCoy running.

I would add Tim Tebow to the list as well

Besides the Raiders, I can’t see another team being blinded by the hype anymore
