Commence the great hold out watch of '09
The start of training camp around the league also begins the start of hold outs. The following first-round picks have yet to sign (as of this writing, to my knowledge):
3. Kansas City Chiefs - DE Tyson Jackon
4. Seattle Seahawks - LB Aaron Curry
6. Cincinnati Bengals - OT Andre Smith
8. Jacksonville Jaguars - OT Eugene Monroe
9. Green Bay Packers - DT B.J. Raji
10. San Francisco 49ers - WR Michael Crabtree
11. Buffalo Bills - DE Aaron Maybin
12. Denver Broncos - RB Knowshon Moreno
14. New Orleans Saints - CB Malcolm Jenkins
19. Philadelphia Eagles - WR Jeremy Maclin
As I wrote immediately following the draft, I expect Maybin to be the longest hold out. His agent, Joel Segal, only had one other first rounder this season and will try and squeeze and much money out of Buffalo as possible.
Segal's bargaining chip is that he knows Buffalo is in desperate need of a pass rush. Jenkins, however, is one to watch as well.
The gang over at Big Cat Country are pondering the Monroe hold out.
