Early Mock to mock, have at it
I edited the draft just a little. I have Bulaga that low only due to injuries and struggles so far this season. There's not a lot of huge needs for RBs early in the draft so I didn't place Dwyer with the thoughts he might stay at GT.
I know Jax fans don't want another WR but a few years ago, the Lions didn't either.
Don't crack on the draft order, it's only projections.

Draft Pick Trades
Seattle has Denver’s 2010 1st and Denver has Chicago’s 2010 1st.
Kansas City has Atlanta’s 2010 2nd round pick. I think New England has like 3 2nd round picks.

Lions 6th? Tennesee 8th?
Oh well, but Spikes wouldnt fit into a 3-4 very well, and the Browns have much bigger needs than ILB. Plus he isnt a top ten prospect IMO.

Also, CB is a position that Cleveland probably wont draft.

Broncos.
I think it’s hillarious that you have the Bears and Seahawks finishing with worse records than my Broncos; a month ago, people thought I was ridiculous for insisting that Denver hadn’t fallen off as much as the media made it out to seem.
As for your picks, I’m not sure about McLain fitting into our 3-4 (or even our 5-2 as we currently play it) but your heart is in the right place. I could see them taking Cody or Kindle in the first based on scheme fit and pure talent. Gilyard is an intersting pick in the second, though I wonder about a guy like Benn in the first if they’re that interested in a WR.

You really think the Broncos look good so far?
I’ll give you that they haven’t looked like one of the worst teams in the league, but they haven’t looked great either. They should have lost to the Bengals, the Browns are like a JV team, and the rest of the Broncos schedule is absolutely brutal. I’d still put them at 5-7 wins and I think both the Bears and Seahawks will end up with more wins (provided Hasselback doesn’t miss a large chunk of the season with his injury).

Damn, I Just Lost My Reply!
I had this whole long post responding to your concerns, but the site freaked out and I lost it… anyway, I’ll give you the cliffnotes: the defense looks legit (look at what the Bengals and Browns offenses did against the Packers and Vikings respectively compared to what they managed against us), the offense is enough (not yet 100%, decent yardage still and zero turnovers) and the schedule looks more manageable now than it did in the preseason.
I said 7-9 before Week 1, but I’m feeling 9-7 now. Either way, they’ll out do the Rams (to win me our beat) and the Browns (sorry BQiB aka tRSS). I happen to think they’ll also finish better than the Bears (who look like the third best team in their division) but perhaps not the Seahawks (who could win the NFC West by default unless I was right about your Niners too). Heck, I might swing a perfect game in contraversial picks and score the Jags as a rebuilding team as well! Call me crazy – I’m used to it by now – but things are looking up for Denver.
P.S.: Yeah, I know, it’s too early for all this and I’ve certainly jinxed everything. Ha!

We'll see
The Rams look terrible, but it’s still only been 2 weeks. I’ll still take the under on 7 wins for the Broncos and the over on 7 wins for the Bears and Seahawks. The Niners are looking good so far, I might have been wrong about them.

Its not a 5-2 unless you have three guys down as lineman. In a 3-4 the OLBs are usually on the LOS

Yeah, that's what a 3-4 team is usually
Watch the NIners or Cowboys, their OLB’s do the same thing. It’s only a 5-2 if their hand is on the ground.

I like the picks for the Giants
Spiller and Granger are 2 nice players….
GIants definitely don’t need another RB and probably won’t get one in round 1 if they do draft one
But Spillier is a dynamic special teams player, which incredible speed. He’ls probably a BPA type, so you know what? I like it.
Then again……..If Brian Bulaga is right there…no sense is showing why other NFL GM’s are so dumb again (…if it happened of course) and grabbing the GIants other bookend of the future.
Granger would be nice, and I don’t know what the team’s thinking about Barry Cofield and FredRob.
Giants are a tought team to peg cuz they have starters and then have a ton of depth.
What the f$%k is the internet?

I think Gresham would be a better than Spiller TBH.
By the way, Justin Tuck is one of my favorite NFL players. He is unblockable.
by TheRealSlimShady on Sep 26, 2009 10:10 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
yea..
really pissed on the Tuck injury. He’ll play this year, unlike the Phillips thing (another suck injury), but he probably won’t be the Tuck that has looked like a potential Strahan type player for the whole year.
As for Gresham, I think I told you before you change the SN, Gresham probably will be a great player, but simply the TE is not a priority anymore for the Giants with Coughlin at the helm.
Shockey was excellent, but taht was before Coughlin got there. Boss is a very good TE that probably could double his production on a team that uses the TE in the pass O more.
They also drafted Travis Beckum to play that role of a receiver/TE type, if they ever decide to use it.
Never say never with drafts, but I just don’t see them drafting a Gresham. Not only is there not even close to a need there, TE is not a 1st round priority I’d think with them. Especially since Bossman has turned out so good.
Spiller would be nice for special teams, and then again there’s no need to go that high for a ST player/ potential fill in at RB.
Id like Spller tho. But more logical is probably O-Line or Safety considering Phillips may never be the same.

Well my Jaguars do not have a 2nd round pick currently, we traded it away.
And its practically assured we’ll not draft a WR in the first round, most likely a Defensive player. I think if we couldn’t get Suh or Eric Berry, I’d want Gerald Mccoy or we would trade way back into the later 1st, early second for more picks.

If the Redskins are drafting #9 then the Campbell experiment is over and they need a QB. Miami might go after some one like Benn or Williams especially after the Monday night game.
Can Brandon Graham play NT or O-line? That is what we need more than anything I could see us get a good corner.
Baltimore needs secondary help or a WR.

NT yes.

Not bad
But no way in hell, and I mean absolutely no way the Steelers pass on Bulaga at 22. I’d be surprised if Bulaga isn’t a top 15 pick. Plus Graham is way too small to play 3-4 DE and I doubt we’d use a 1st round pick to get an OLB, when we already have Harrison and Woodley.

Based on the rankings of the teams I would think Cleveland at # 3 would take a QB.
Clausen or Bradford in my opinion.
The Rams or ’Skins might be in line for a QB if they finish that low too.
But overall I think this draft is pretty realistic. As real a it can be seven months ahead of the draft.

Sean Smith has looked great so far. no picks :-( , but solid coverage all day :-)
Vontae Davis is already looking like a solid starter.
You dont draft a kid to have him sit the bench or trade him. Especially when we need a big time WR, a franchise NT, and new mlb

Two 2nd year DEs
and we have potential starters in wake, and moses. JD Folsom will come into his own with a little coaching
Crowder is noy that old either, hes just getting into his prime. Solai, in his 3rd year i believe, is much improved from last season, if he continues this up he’ll be our starter next season. The reason we need to draft a NT early is because we need competition at the position. NT tackle is the most vital part of a 34

I know Jax fans don't want another WR but a few years ago, the Lions didn't either.
That got a chuckle out of me. Well now Dez Byrant cannot be drafted by the Jaguars. Who do you think we’d draft then? (Hopefully its either a QB or some position on Defense.) And for the sake of arguement, I think we are good at WRs and have more pressing oncerns [For WRs, refer to Mike Sims-Walker]
