Mock Draft: Kansas City

Every day/week I will be doing a mock draft, for every team and so because Kansas City is my favorite team, they go first.

Main needs SS/FS/NT/WR//C/TE/CB/LB and with 8 picks and 8 holes I think we could fix this disaster.

Round 1  Eric Berry: With Kansas City ranking 30th in pass defense. They choose a dominate safety, who could possibly be the next Ed Reed and has loads of potential. 5-11 203 pounds SS Tennessee NFL comparison Ed Reed Ravens safety 40 4.40. Stats 83 tackles 2 interceptions.

Round 2 Terrance Cody: Cody gives KC a huge run blocking beast, who could solidify the middle of the trenches. One of my problems with Cody is his weight issues if he can get that down and has a decent Senior Bowl and Combine I think we snag him. 6-5 350 NT Alabama NFL comparison Ted Washington Ex NFL player 40 5.72. Stats

28 tackles

Round 2 Reshad Jones: Already with a run stuffer and a Ed Reed clone, and now a play making safety. This would make us a fierce team down field and would make all of the AFC West quarterbacks think twice about throwing the ball down the field. 6-2 212 pounds FS Georgia NFL comparison Nick Collins FS Green Bay 40 4.58. Stats 61 tackles 1 forced fumble 4 interceptions.

Round 3 J.D Walton: J.D is a tough kid who managed to handle the beast Suh to only 5 tackles and 1 sack when they played each other. Another one of the things I like of this kid is his foot work and strength to maintain blocks. 6-3 305 pounds C Baylor NFL comparison Jeff Saturday 40 5.19. Stats none

Round 4 Perish Cox: Cox is a tremendous kick returner and punt returner who would take the job from Quieten Lawrence and Bobby Wade, where Lawrence can barely take it to the 20 yard line and Bobby just fair catches it. And did I mention Perish was the best punt returner in the big 12 and is a solid corner who can play left or right side and maybe nickel. 6-1 185 pounds CB/NB Oklahoma State  NFL comparison Justin Miller 40 4.44. Stats 36 tackles 4 interceptions 1 kick return touchdown.

Round 5 Charles Scott: Scott is a big bruiser back who is a little short at 6-0 for a power back, but don't underestimate this kid, he has superstar potential and would help Jamal out with his injury prone shoulder and elbow. 6-0 234 pounds RB LSU NFL comparison Cedric Benson(without the legal problems) 40 4.60. Stats 116 carries for 542 yards averaging 4.7 yards per carry and 4 touchdowns.

Round 5 Marcus Easley: Marcus is a big receiver at 6-3 with soft hands and has really been a huge threat for the Huskies. One of Easleys with big things is the way he runs his routes with only moderate speed he uses his arms and hips to break lose of shutdown corners. 6-3 212 pounds NFL comparison Antonio Bryant 40 4.40. Stats 48 catches for 893 yards 8 touchdowns averaging 18.7 yards per carry.

Round 5 Colin Peek: This kid is one of the most underrated players in college football, after seeing his touchdown in the SEC Championship game I thought this kid was a total beast. Has good concentration and hands too bring down any ball that comes his way reminds me of raw Jeremy Shockey.  NFL comparison Jeremy Schockey 40  4.84. Stats 26 catches for 313 yards with 3 touchdowns.

Extra picks

Miami 5th: For Tyler Thigpen

Carolina 5th: For Tank Tyler

Atlanta 2nd: For Tony Gonzalez

Well, you are hitting your needs with some good thoughts. Berry is great value at #5 though he has a good chance of going #3 to Tampa. If Cody slips into round two, he would be good value there. I don’t see FS as a huge need, so I am not wild about Jones with your second pick in round two. I would have gone guard with that pick if it were me. Maybe someone like Pouncey (he can play guard or center) or Asamoah in round two. Your later round picks are heavy on skill postions. I love the Scott pick. Perhaps somene like Micah Johnson replacing one of your WR picks might be a better value. I do think you need to bring a LB in somewhere in the draft.

Scott is nowhere near as good as Benson was in college

I like this, even if it is unrealistic

As a fellow Chiefs fan and probably one of the more wel known ones on this blog, Everyone knows I would absolutely love this.

Round 1- I love the pick. Probably the best player or 2nd best player in the draft and arguably the biggest hole on our team. No more Mike Brown and Jon McGraw would be nice.

Round 2a- No way we have the option to pick him bro. I wish like hell he would fall but I really doubt it. Maybe he comes to the combine and weighs 350+ and then maybe we have a shot at him. If he has his weight under control, He will be a first round pick. Dan Williams is a more realistic pick but even he is almost sure to be a 1st rounder. Teams like San Fran, Pit, Miami, SD, Denver all need NTs. Thse guys know how important the Nt posistion is.

Round 2b.- I dont quite get this pick. Berry is realistically more of a FS in the NFL. Jones also plays FS. I dont know, but it could work. Jones is a good player. I dont know we grab him but he should come off the board around that time.

Round 3- JD Walton, Ill take it. Although Im not a huge fan, I do agree he has potential. Although, Holding Suh to only a couple tackles isnt really impressive because they doublled him all day. He was killing Walton when they single blocked him. But, thats Suh.

Round 4- Love it, works for me. We need to replace Carr. In the nickel, Carr could come in and Coz could move inside.

Rd. 5- Im not to big on this round. Easely is fine but Scott and Peek are not two of my favorite picks. We have Cottam, Who is very similar to Peek but even better IMO. Scott is good, but he is no upgrade over a combination of Castille and Cox. I think those picks could be used on an OG, which is probably our biggest need.

Overall, I wouldnt be mad at all if the draft went this way.

1 Rolando McClain LB
2 Earl Thomas SS
2 Matt Tenant Boston College C
3 Vince Oghobaase the guys 6-6 310 pounds. Duke NT
4 Perish Cox Oklahoma State CB/KR
5 Mitch Petrus Arkansas OG
5 Marcus Easley Connecticut WR
5 Stafon Johnson RB

I like that one too lol

But I dont think Ealr Thomas falls lol.

If he does thats a great one. Id rather have Eric Berry though over Earl Thomas or Rolando McClain. I know Chiefs fans like him but it probably wont happen. It may, but Pioli passed on an ILB that was supposivly a better player. So will see. I wasnt saying you mock was bad, I really like both. I would love that 5th round alot better though.

san fran

doesn’t need a NT. Aubrayo Franklin is a beast.

by milkman41 on Jan 17, 2010 1:46 AM EST up reply actions

I know he is

But he is a FA, Right? I thought he was but I could be wrong. If your saying that because of the CBa, Don bother. Im convinced they are going to agree on a new deal.

If you hope to snag Cody at #36 you better hope he looks really bad at the combines.

I am not a Cody fan but I believe he won’t get past San Diego at the latest.

Cox is also being looked at in the late second, early third round. I would be very surprised if a guy like him gets down to pick #99. You might want to switch your order for Walton and Cox. That would be more realistic in my view.

How about a WR instead of Jones in the second round? There should be some interesting ones to draft there.

I'd think Cody wouldn't get past Pittsburgh

yeah but I still think we will trade the 2nd for a nfl nose tackle

if cody is off the board and Dan Williams looks more like a 4-3 DT.

Chiefs win the superbowl in 2010.

by The. Face Of The Franchise on Jan 16, 2010 10:59 AM EST reply actions

I can't believe you guys don't want to see #5 traded

If you select a player don’t you want to stop the run and get better pressure on the QB?

Berry would be a good pick but I think you guys need DL help as well as OLB help. E Berry will still have the chiefs a 4-6 win team.

Eric Berry would a defensive leader and playmaker

He’s great value at that spot too. but KC could almost go anywhere.

Neither of us know how many wins the Chiefs will get next year

And of course we would love to trade the 5th pick. Whaat are you talking about with that? Also, DL Help and OLB help? Tamaba Hali played his ass off this year and the DL is full of first round picks. FS and SS are two of the biggest holes on our teams. We had the 30th ranked pass defense because Jon McGraw and Mike Brown are our safeties.

Where's your run defense rank?......31st

So the NT position is a must fill, if you continue playing the 3-4. I can say you will be a 4-6 win team, you have been for a couple of years now.

So that makes you know

what there record will be. Thats just ridiculous. Look at the Dolphins or Falcons of a year ago. You just cant predict in the NFL. The 49ers went from 5-11 to 9-7 in on year just 3 or 4 years ago. Also, Who knows what they do in FA. Why are all the 9er fans utterly ridiculous.

by darwithabar on Jan 17, 2010 4:54 PM EST up reply actions

Where did anyone say they didnt want to trade the 5th pick or they didnt want to stop the run?

Its highly unlikly they can trade the 5th pick so to talk about it is stupid. Im really wondering why you even made that comment. It makes you look lost.

by darwithabar on Jan 17, 2010 4:56 PM EST up reply actions

Like It

RD1: Love the pick, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t know where you got the stats saying we had the 30th ranked pass D because it was actually 20th-22nd. Our RunD was the real killer, we’re ranked 31st. Found all that at NFL.com, and because our RunD was so bad it leads me to believe NT will be our First pick.
RD2: Fine with it but if we could recreate that Alabama D with McClain as well that’d be awesome. RJ seems like the classic SS but don’t see the need, we already got Jarrad Page at FS or SS depending on where we put Berry.
RD3: He’s a good C which is exactly what we need, good pick
RD4: Don’t really understand all the 2ndary picks? If anything we need good ILBs more than 2ndary help. Rather get Micah Johnson here.
RD5: One of the few who think we don’t need a bruiser, rather get Bell who could fill the same role as JC but also has the strength to push the pocket. Rather get a good slot guy like Barnes or Maier then Easley but he’s ok. Peek’s fine with me, good blocker just needs to work on his consistency.
