Chicago Bears team needs

It was a season of failed expectations for the Chicago Bears. Jay Culter’s arrival had people talking super bowl but the results were much different. There are a lot of holes on this Bear’s team that need to be addressed. Unfortunately, GM Jerry Angelo has left the Bears without a pick until the 3rd round. Well the problems still need to be addressed so what should the Bears focus on?

1. Safety - Daniel Manning has proved that he is nothing more than a nickel back and return man. Al Afalava out performed his draft position but is not the long term solution at the position. This defense needs a playmaking safety, they could have signed Darren Sharper last offseason but decided not against that. Not picking until the 3rd round will hamper the ability to upgrade this position through the draft.

2. Defensive End - Adewale Ogunleye is a free agent; Mark Anderson has not come close to his rookie years production; and Alex Brown shouldn’t be your top threat as a pass rusher. The Tampa Two defense heavily depends on pressure from the end position and this group is not getting the job done. Maybe Coach Marinelli can get some production out of last year’s draft picks, Jarron Gilbert and Henry Melton.

3. Offensive Tackle - Chris Williams showed a lot of promise at left tackle but the right side needs to be addressed. Kevin Shaffer is nothing more than a backup and hopefully Orlando Pace retires. Again its going to be tough to fill this position through the draft. Bears fans keep your fingers crossed for some late round magic.

i don't watch the Bears much so this is somewhat of an uninformed position

but shouldn’t “getting Cutler a playmaker” be a need or is that just a stupid national opinion?

Be careful....to a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

I actually am a bears fan; but i dont speak for all bears fans; I feel that Cutler has the ability to make others better; he just needs time in the pocket and a solid running game. Those things could happen with an improved offensive line.

The Bears are set at wide receiver and tight end. The things that were listed in this article are the major needs in my opinion.

who do they have thats an elite WR?

For every woman masturbating right now, there is a guy masturbating while imagining that woman masturbate.

since when does an Elite WR

translate from “set” at WR. there are many more pressing needs BEFORE they even begin to address WR.

safeties are seriously lacking, CBs are either underdeveloped or begining to show their age.
Defensive line is pourous and aging. we only have 2 performing LBs.
Offensive line is in shambles, maybe better with a year together, but i would bet more than 8 wins behind that line.
no true compliment to Forte…. and people continually bag on the WRs… WRs dont have to make the game, ours are extremely serviceable.

DA made great strides once they put him in
Hester will be a good slot receiver, and the you can rotate Bennet, Knox, Igleasias for the #2 and that will easily get us through a season, and probably have one being a 1,000yarder.

what about Devin Aromashadu?

seemed like a big reason Cutler figured it out cuz he had a big, tall WR instead of a bunch of midgets…

You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you are going, because you might not get there

First off, Angelo is an idiot.

Second, the Bears biggest need is an Offensive Line that can protect Cutler, and open up holes for Forte. That is what all of their offensive struggles came from, but it did look like they got it together in the last two games since Cutler had 7 or 8 TDs against one pick.

I’d also say that they have some decent receivers, especially considering what I have seen from Aromashodu, that guy is good enough to be the starter. Reggie Wayne taught that guy, and seeing what Garcon/Collie have done on the Colts now that they are playing more, he is great at helping receivers improve.

Lifelong Arizona Cardinals/Chicago Bears fan.

I can't stand band-wagoner fans, stick with your team, throughout the good and the bad.
