Dove's Senior Bowl North Practice Observations Day 1
Below are just some quick observation from the North’s day 1 practice.
Taylor Price wide receiver from Ohio University showed some nice speed, reliable hands, and route running ability. He has the ability to really help his draft stock this week.
There were some nice battles in offensive/ defensive line drills. Jared Odrick of Penn State stood out in matchups against Jon Asamoah (Illionis) and Mike Iupati (Idaho). However, Asamoah did hold his own and later showed his ability to reach the 2nd level during team run drills. One concern from Asamoah was that his arm reach measured lower than expected. Unfortunatley, NFL circles are very focused on measurable.
Brandon Graham (Mich) made Ed Wang (VT) look pathetic taking about 1 second to get around him on his way to the towel (quarterback).
Mardy Gilyard (Cinn) didn’t look good today. He dropped several passes, looked slow, and rounded a lot of his routes. Not a good day for a wide receiver that had to show he was capable of running NFL routes.
Kyle Wilson of Boise State look really good today and is a favorite of NFL Network’s Mike Mayock. He has nice size for a cornerback and kept up with the faster wide receivers during one on one drills.

Not surprised about Brandon Graham.
He does not look like an impressive DE. Does not have any of the elite measurables that scouts like to see but……..all he does is make plays in the offensive backfield and get by any lineman they put in front of him. He is a football player.
Any idea what round he’s projected to go?
Probably the only Cleveland Browns fan in all of Sydney, NSW.
Mid Second seems to be the consensus.
A few mocks show him in the late first round as a 3-4 OLB [although I don’t see that] and some have him as late as the early third.
Sort of.....
He is the same size, plays the same position, I just don’t know if he is mobile enough to cover the pass. He can get after the QB and stuff the run.
If he goes to a 3-4 team he will play rush OLB. If he goes to a 4-3 team he will be a DE.
He is close to Dwight Freeney’s size, but I don’t think he is anywhere as fast.
If the Lions have a shot at him at #66 I would hope they jump at him. #34 might be a little early. It will be a tough call.
Don't put too much stock into these workouts
Unless you’re looking at small school guys. The big school players have already proven all they need to, unless they are so bad at one certain thing that it is outstanding.

I disagree. If they weren’t important, multiple representatives from every team wouldn’t be there working them out.

I think that both of you are somewhat right. These things are important but I think that prospects still tend to get overanalyzed,

This is where teams ....
,,,see how players practice, how they hold up to repetitions both in terms of technique and in effort, their aptitude in a new scheme with new teammates and new coaches and how they respond to instructions. This is as important as plays on game film.

And if the big school players didn't think it was important and proven all they needed to
then why would they be there
Cam Thomas looked pretty good yesterday
Is he a guy that become a true starting NT?
Be careful....to a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
disapointing to hear that about Gilyard
For every woman masturbating right now, there is a guy masturbating while imagining that woman masturbate.
