I love Eric Berry to the Browns.

Rams will probably take Suh

although I’d say its pretty close between Suh and a QB right now.

Can't think of a good sig

by Carneros on Jan 3, 2010 10:59 PM EST up reply actions

if the rams really wanted a QB

they would have taken Sanchez in the last draft. Best Player Available-Suh. What I hope is that TB gets anxious and trades us their 1st and 2nd’s

by Jombari on Jan 4, 2010 12:15 AM EST up reply actions

rams need a QB, but Suh is too good to pass up

i can see them getting jason campbell in FA (and according to your draft, the Redskins won’t retain him)

by vitzeng on Jan 4, 2010 2:06 AM EST up reply actions

the bucs won't get that desperate

Tampa’s got too many other positions to fill with best-availables. If they don’t get the best-available DT, they’ll take best-available OT or S or DE. All they need is a good one-gap DT in an early round (Second) and they’re set. That said, if Suh DOES slip to the third draft spot, the Bucs will take him in a heartbeat.

If Shanahan does indeed land in Washington...

…Bradford really doesn’t fit his prototype QB.

I agree with every pick except...

I would give the seahawks Bruce Campbell instead of Anthony Davis

by Lions1788 on Jan 3, 2010 10:26 PM EST reply actions

Same.

Holmgren would have drafted Crabtree.

Don't think Rams will take a QB

I think they will take Suh in the end. Then McCoy to the Lions, and after that TB trades down as Seattle trades up to take Bradford. Leaves Washington to take Okung, then KC takes Berry. Not sure what happens next!

Jaguars want Tim Tebow

Jaguars will pick Tim Tebos for there first round pick. During pre-season Jaguars Owner Weaver stated he wants Tim Tebow. A newspaper article Tallahassee Democrat Governor Crist suggested it would be an excellent idea for Tim Tebow (huge fan base) to go to the Jaguars to help fill the stands.
David Garrard the current QB has had 3 seasons to prove his value and he has not made the cut, it’s time for Garrard, like Leftwich, to move on to another team.
I welcome Tim Tebow and I think he will surprise all the skeptics in the NFL that he is worthy of being an NFL Quarterback. GO TEBOW! Tebow is the Return of Christ

Drafting Tebow to "fill the stands"

would be a horrible idea.

Cuz…what happens if he turns out to be a POS?

LAguars

Holmgren would have drafted Crabtree.

No

At BCC we’ve discussed this, you might want a look. Tebow after the first is alright, but thats the only scenario we like.

The Bucs

Want Suh and they showed that they are not afraid to make trades when they moved up 2 places last year to get a QB but the financial commitment that comes with the 1st pick will not let them do it and there are lots of holes that needs to be filled plus they traded away Gaines Adams ( thanks chicago ), 4th overall in 07 for a second round because they wanted more picks

by Buc-Drunk on Jan 4, 2010 9:40 AM EST reply actions

I agree the Bucs won’t trade up from 3rd to 1st overall (too expensive) and that the Bucs will go with best-available at key position (OT, S and DE). They may need a WR, but no receiver in this rookie draft is gonna be worth that high a pick, so expect a WR with the extra Second rounder we got from Chicago.

Looking at teams by need

For each of the top drafting teams, three possible needs for them to fill (this is mostly guesswork on the sparse times I’ve seen them – except mah team the Bucs – so if I’m way off lemme know) :

1. St. Louis Rams- Everything! But we’ll go with QB, DL, OT
2. Detroit Lions- This is Detroit. They’ve had the worst decade a team’s ever had, so Everything! But DL, CB, S makes the most sense.
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- There’s gaps across the board here, but DL, OT, WR are top needs
4. Washington Redskins- Can they draft a better owner? Otherwise, OT, WR, DB (but they’ll go for a new QB despite the needs elsewhere)
5. Kansas City Chiefs- Honestly? I haven’t seen any of their games. So this is guesswork. OT, DL, WR
6. Seattle Seahawks- They really didn’t have a good team this year, way too many gaps to fix. But QB looks like a must.
7. Cleveland Browns- CB, S, OL
8. Oakland Raiders- Anybody Al Davis wants. Most likely Carlos Dunlap, and they’ll deserve each other. But OL, DE, CB are serious needs
9. Buffalo Bills- Figure T.O. is out the door to a warmer clime market (oh God, NOT TAMPA). So WR would fit. Also CB, DL
10. Jacksonville Jaguars- The talk is they’ll take Tebow just because he’s a Local Kid Done Good, but sensible heads will gamble Tebow can be had in the Second Round, and they should look instead at OL, LB, CB.

if Jags had a 2nd round pick

then yes Tebow probably would be picked then, but we might have to wait till our 3rd round pick.

The order for the top 20 is out (with ties to be determined by coin flip)

PFT has reported the draft order for the top 20. There are 3 ties to be determined by coin flip. But you can mock up some good stuff from here.

1. St. Louis (1-15)
2. Detroit (2-14)
3. Tampa Bay (3-13)
4. Washington (4-12)
5. Kansas City (4-12)
6. Seattle (5-11)
7. Cleveland (5-11)
8. Oakland (5-11)
9. Buffalo (6-10)
10t. Denver (Traded from Chicago) (7-9)
10t. Jacksonville (7-9)
12. Miami (7-9)
13. San Francisco (8-8)
14. Seattle (Traded from Denver) (8-8)
15. New York Giants (8-8)
16t. Tennessee (8-8)
16t. San Francisco (Traded from Carolina) (8-8)
18. Pittsburgh (9-7)
19t. Atlanta (9-7)
19t. Houston (9-7)

"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."

Oooh, if I were the Tampa GM...

Looking at that top 20, noticing that Seattle has the 6th and the 14th picks… I would offer to trade the 3rd overall and one of the Bucs’ two Second Rounders to pick up the 6th and 14th selections. Use the 6th pick for the next available DT (McCoy might still be there) and the 14th for best available OT (would Okung slip that far? Probably not, so who’s second or third on the list?) and that would make my draft. And still have a decent Second Rounder handy for best available WR.

why would you trade the 2nd rounder?

the 6th and the 14th would be all is needed to get the #3.

I doubt Seattle would do this tho…

by FreeBradshaw on Jan 4, 2010 2:21 PM EST up reply actions

Why would Seattle trade up?

Every single position on that roster could use an upgrade.

Holmgren would have drafted Crabtree.
