The perfect Tim Tebow opinion
There are times when someone says something that is so incredibly correct that you want to slap yourself in the forehead. "How could I have not thought of this before?" It's an absolute truth. It's this opinion of Tim Tebow:
As some of you might know, Daniel Jeremiah was a scout for the Ravens and then the Browns until Eric Mangini wiped the front office clean last offseason.
This might be the ultimate opinion on Tebow's draft status. No one knows at this point what he can be – whether that's a quarterback or some sort of hybrid player with an undefinable role. So it may mean that Tebow gets taken by a team with extra picks.
Which team has extra picks? That would be New England, which has three second-round picks this year. Seems like a good fit, doesn't it?
Note: Don't worry, Tebow talk will greatly decrease after the Senior Bowl today. Apologies for drowning you in it.

Nooooooooooo
not the Patriots! anyone but the Patriots! Tebow’s goodness would be blotted out, and we would become an agent of the darkest fiends in the NFL.

This is a really good opinion
I would make the case for Tebow going to a team where the following conditions exist:
1. Established QB, or a QB that’s had success in the league, in place.
2. A Head Coach that is either offensive in background and wants to develop Tebow, or a Head Coach that makes the final decisions for his organization. Eg: this can’t be pushed onto the coaches by the front office.
3. A coaching staff that has at least 3 future years of working for the organzation (new coaching staff or very established coaching staff with a successful track record).
4. An offensive system that won’t change much over the next three years.
5. A team with extra picks, so the Tebow selection won’t damage the future of the team.
I strongly disagree with that philosophy. Waste a pick because it is extra?
Those picks should be used as carefully and as intelligently as any other. Not tossed away on a “gamble”. You don’t receive these picks because you are lucky, right? The team has given up something in the past for this future benefit. To blow it on a risky proposition,……… WOW! A recipe for long term failure.
A luxury pick really does not exist. The term is an oxymoron.
The teams that should be taking a shot on a prospect should be ones that have minor needs [that could be met in a later round] or have no better option when it is their turn to pick. So, instead of reaching for a “need” take a gamble.
all picks are gambles
the higher the pick the more the gamble.
Tebow is a gamble with more upside and potential then any 2-3 3rd rounder out there

Thats my research for lousy vision, where is yours?
uh McFly! any one home McFly?
His bad mechanics is why he would have alot of upside, if he didnt have bad mechanics there wouldnt be anything to fix there for nothing would cause him to be drafted late and there for there is no upside, youd just be drafting a player with a lot of hype and if he failed everyone would be pissed.
Except he does have bad mechanics so now you have a guy that has ELITE entangibles but the jury is still out if he can perform at the next level. If he can, that would be a steal. FYI- Nobody thought he would excell as a starter in collge either his freshmen season because he threw side arm.
BTW he is 6-3, not under.

The official Senior Bowl web page lists him at 6'2"

He’s short for an NFL QB. It’s possible that he could eventually become an NFL QB, but he’d pretty much have to re-learn about every aspect of playing QB. I don’t doubt that he’s a hard worker or question his motivations, but no player is going to get a starting job on intangibles alone. I’m not going to say that Tim Tebow can’t be a good starting QB in the league, but the odds are very, very long. I don’t think its wrong to root for him, but I think you should understand that there are very rational reasons why people don’t think that he’ll succeed in the NFL.

I dont recall saying any thing that says those people are wrong.
6’2’’… if they just did a recent check for the game I wont argue much. I’ll just say 6’2’’ pushing 6’ 3’’ isnt that short for a NFL QB. Every aspect of playing QB is a little much. I didnt say he would get a starting job, I said he has a lot of upside as a 2-3 rounder. Everything else your putting words in my mouth.

That is a reasonable quote
But there have been some very great coaches who have openly said they like Tebow. So I dont think its a lock that everyone doesnt believe Tebow has a legitamate chance in the NFL. Its just the ones who dont think Tebow will make it, just seem to be SOOO MUCH MORE VOCAL then the ones who think he can.
ANTI-TEBOW is a cult that has to be heard. HEEEE WONT MAKE IT!!!! RAAAAAA WE DONT LIKE TEBOW!!!!!
You never see people going nuts about why Colt McCoy wont make it in the NFL.

cuz Colt McCoy stinks.
Just look how long it took Alex Smith to develop a clue. They even had to install a spreadish offense for him.
You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you are going, because you might not get there

as a QB...
I don’t see how any team could draft him in the first few rounds. Even the biggest pro-Tebow folks have got to admit that his ridiculous loopy throwing motion isn’t going to cut it at the NFL level. Which means you are taking a QB who has thrown one way his whole life and you are going to have to rework his throwing mechanics from the ground up, take time to teach him the new mechanics and drill it into his muscle memory, then give him several years to practice with those mechanics against NFL-caliber defenses, and then hope at the end of all that what emerges is an NFL starting-caliber QB (which you have no guarantee at all will even be the case).
That’s the kind of thing you do with a 5th round pick. Not a 1st or 2nd round pick. The risk-reward ratio is just too high.
NOW, if there are teams that thinks he can make it as a TE, and Tebow is willing to forego playing QB and commit himself 100% to playing TE at the NFL level…who knows. Maybe for a guy with his athleticism, THAT would be worth a low 2nd round pick. In which case, a team like the Patriots who have 4 picks in the first two rounds, theoretically they might potentially go for that. However, even then I’d be surprised, as in general the Pats tend to shy away from high-publicity picks—even with their 1st and 2nd round selections.
