PREPARING FOR ANOTHER 7 ROUND MOCK (Making sure to check out the changes in the rules, and If you have any interest check it out)

PrintHi, on behalf of JP and I say THANK YOU for participating in our first mock. We Are as you see going to do another one but there isn't a set date yet. We will also be posting the final results of the last draft with the reasons shortly. We are thinking about a 4 rounder a few weeks before the combine (FEBRUARY 13TH) and have no trades. And then the 7 rounder right after the combine (MARCH 6TH). After this we can compare and see how our draft selections are effected by the combine. Realize that this will be a bit of a time commitment if you are participating and mostly in the afternoons. We will be doing the draft on the weekends (preferable on Sat. only) and are planning on 2 rounds per weekend.
If you are interested I need someone who wants to help keep track of all the BPA lists (if you were here for the last one you know some mistakes occurred and we want to cut down on it). This would also help us out a lot with the amount we are doing so let us know In the thread or email me at ttango1990@verizon(dot)net.

OK here are the guidelines/method we will use in this in the draft as of right now.
DRAFT METHOD:
1. I will announce which team is on the clock with the following comment: THE ST. LOUIS RAMS ARE NOW ON THE CLOCK!! ...After this message, you will have 5 minutes to make your selection.
2. Your selection MUST appear exactly as this in the subject line: WITH THE 33RD PICK IN THE DRAFT, THE ST. LOUIS RAMS SELECT (PLAYER NAME) , (POSITION) ,SCHOOL. Please use all caps so your pick will stand out.
3. After your selection, the next person will be on the clock once I make the announcement.
4. For the first 4 rounds we want you to provide your reasoning for your pick and this will be emailed to JP23 (JPYanes@yahoo(dot)com) PLEASE DO NOT USE THE SUBJECT LINE FOR ANYTHING OTHER THAN PICKS. This way, the only thing that will appear in bold is the announcement and the pick.
5. Not using the subject line will help in following the conversation on each pick alot easier. And most importantly, when we put together the front page article, it will be easiest to sort through.
6. The draft thread will still be updated after each selection or as fast as possible by JP23. NO matter if you will be here or not you need to send in your BPA LIST and the person you send it to will be announced shortly. Since we are doing this on the weekend that means you will have about 5 days to get in your BPA LIST. Also in that List you need enough picks that you think it will cover you for the two rounds (the number may depend on your number of picks) as we will be doing two rounds per weekend. (MAKE SURE LISTS ARE IN BY FRIDAY OR DAY BEFORE DRAFT DAY)
7. if you do not give us a list we will ask one of the other reps to take your pick or make it ourselves (remember your still sending the explanation of your pick to JP).

I think it went well.
As we figured stuff out (the 5-7th rounds…) it went a lot smoother.
I think we should keep the same rules (trades…yes). Wait till after the combine tho. It seems right now stocks change drastically..but it was only a week of practices.
I don’t think we should start any round unless those that don’t plan on being there haven’t given a BPA list.
Having us all choose a player doesn’t seem to work

umm..
yea, I write jibberish every now and then in case ya didn’t know that.
Yea..if it takes the whole week, don’t start. Actually..don’t start until EVERYONE gives their BPA list for that round.
It will run a lot smoother. If we gotta only do a round a day, or simply go into the next round (like we did) until the team’s rep isn’t there.
But I’d rather not go and make everyone pick for a team that’s rep is not logged in.

If we just do the weekends like TJ suggested then each rep would have the weekdays leading up to it to
get there BPA lists in which I think each rep should be capable of doing and then we could get two rounds done no problem I think. (great idea)

Yeah I agree we shouldn't start a round till everyone, including those who plan on attending that day
has there BPA list in. That way if something all the sudden comes up or someone doesnt show up for whatever reason you have the BPA list.

The 7 rounder will be after the combine but we are thinking of doing a 4 rounder about 3 weeks before the
combine then compare how we see it being effected based off of what we saw at the combine. (we will use the format that I talked about above about (weekends and such)

The Scouting combin starts Feb. 24th and ends March 2nd I believe
So I think the best thing to do is to wait until March 3rd to start. Or we can wait a week and do one more until after the combine if people really want to get another one in.

I work a 24 hour on call job
I probably can do it for the Rams but I’ll surely miss part of it. I just don’t know which part yet. My schedule makes it hard to plan anything. Plus I’m gone for up to 48 hours at a time.

just got back from my vacation to find....
…..that my best player list was completely ignored. I wrote JP on last sunday, and told him I was going out of town and gave him my list, and reminded him of my picks, as I had thee in round 4. I know this is just for fun, but what happened to my list, did just forget?? I cant find the thread where maybe it was discussed (begaining round 4, was the first pick I had in which I wasnt here)
I didn't have your list and as far as I know JP didn't so idk what happened.
Did he respond and say he had it cause he has not gotten some emails, I had no idea why you were gone and JP didn’t say so I wonder if he either didn’t get it or with us getting so many emails we lost track of it. Sorry man I don’t know what to say but this next one I am looking for someone (seperate) to be in charge of sorting out and gathering all BPA lists so this hopefully doesn’t happen or happens less

I would also add that doing a 4 round trial mock to work out the kinks would be a good idea prior to another 7 round mock. Each round should be a set time. 5 minutes between picks make a 2 1/2 hour round. Just a thought.
Winning is not everything but it sure feels like it sometimes
LLV that is what I am thinking for the timeframe
it should come out to right about 2.5 hours per round. I think 5min will be fine unless we want to do 10 only for the first 2 rounds since there are more trades (wondering if we just don’t do trades and see how that goes for the 4 rounder.

Another suggestion
If a team doesn’t select on time ( or doesn’t have a list turned in) then the selection comes off of a predeternined list of players such as the CBS draft rankings. No mess, No fuss.

Please don't use tjdove's needs for the Cowboys, it is way off base
Everyone needs send in their BPA list before each round. Period. Then if someone doesn’t show up or has to leave for whatever reason we have the BPA lsit

I haven't seen that list but
I origionaly was going to have them submit a BPA (best position available list) since that is how I made the rankings and we would do it like that but it didn’t happen. If we do it each weekend (school is killer) then we will have each list or that rep will have no excuse to get a list in.
As someone said earlier lets not so the round unless we have at least a list from everyone and I think that is a good idea.

Your missing the point
If the GM does not have his own BPA list turned in then we don’t want to pick for him. It takes to much time. The penalty is that he gets the next availble player off of a player ranking list regardless of need. An automatic pick. No wasted time.

that`s how it went down last time and I got no where fast even though there was dead teams, heck I was willing to take over half way through the draft and in some cases guys were given a team because they were quote unquote fan`s of the team and more ahem qualified and the first thing they would post was…who do you think I should take?.
we aren't saying that we don't want you to be a part of this
we’re just saying that whenever possible we want fans of the teams to be the Rep, we want this to be as real as possible and fans know not only what a teams needs are based on ability and age but also on insider info…

I would like to entertain trade offers still
I read above a suggestion to not allow trades. I’d just rather have them, because I may very well be the primary GM for us for the next couple of drafts. Trading the first pick is an option I want to explore.

Drew K took Omar Bolden in the 6th round I believe. Omar Bolden didn’t declare for this draft. Drew K then said he could be available in the supplemental draft (which still wouldn’t make him in this draft) and then things got out of hand.
He wanted a link as proof that Bolden didn’t enter the draft (there won’t always be one) but yet he couldn’t provide a link that he did enter the draft.
Just a big mess.

my email is ksburns@aclnet.ca I`m ready to commit and yes for all 7 rds not just rd 1 but before I commit 100% I want a return commitment not some BS that if a charger fan comes and is more qualified crap because you won`t fid one who will do better because once I get acceptance bang I`m on a plane heading for SanDiego baby to meet with all the coaches and gm etc but I don`t want to expend that money just because a slouch comes around later and gets the team and says “who do you guys think I should take?”

Are we going four rd.s for everyone or are we going the 1st 4 rd.s of the regular draft?? Meaning do I have a 3rd rd. pick in this draft?? (Redskins)
no you won't have a 3rd round as you don't in the real draft.
we will do the same as we did for the 7 rounder but only do 4 rounds.

Look here is the deal.
I will put you in there for the Charger. However if a Charger fan does come then you will become the backup to him if he is someone who wants to do it and I feel is commited. If this isn’t ok then you know what to do as I am making the decisions here for this

I`m a Cowboy fan but also a huge nut on the draft, 3yrs ago I represented the Bengals, 2 yrs ago the Colts and last yr the Cowboys so representing another team will not deter me from giving 100% effort for the team and this group, hopefully I can prove myself worthy and continue to represent the Chargers in future mocks without having to look over my shoulder. Until the draft I`,m going to eat sleep drink nothing but Charger and draft picks so for my sake hopefully some goof won`t be given the position over me who in all probability will start his journey with those famous words " hey who do you guys think I should take?"

Chargers Rep/Backup
I’m the Chargers fan that Ziggy was talkin about. I’m not too sure what i’m doing but i’ll figure it out. I would like to be just a backup for now while i learn the ropes but i’ll be more into it later.
OK.
right now I am talking with another Charger guy and not sure if he wants to do it. If I can at least get him to do our 4 rounder then you can get a hang of it and do the 7 or something like that. (not hard to grasp you would be fine either way). Ill put you in as there rep right now and if the other guy does it then you will be backup like you want
