For your pleasure or scorn: My live Senior Bowl analysis, reproduced

I was watching the game and tweeting my thoughts via my Blackberry.  Thought I'd reproduce some of them so you can see my insight.  Going to cook/eat some dinner shortly after I post this, but I'll be back later to see what, if anything, y'all have to say.  Warning: serious profanity ahead.  My vocabulary drops into the gutter on Twitter.  Fair warning if that sort of thing offends you!

Star-divide

"Not impressed with Tebow's footwork. Release isn't as bad as advertised."

"Cody got a nice push. Watching  him try to pursue the runner is hilarious"

"The South is starting Dan Williams and Terrence Cody at DT. Christ, that's a lot of beef"

"Taylor Mays went for the big hit instead of wrapping up securely. Gotta control that"

"Mike Iupati is a mean motherfucker. Strong as an ox. Cody is putting some nice effort so far. Trying to put to rest concerns about his motor"

"Beautiful throw by Pike for a TD, called back because of holding on Iupati"

"And Pike floats an ugly one. Put some mustard on it, man"

"Geno Atkins gets inside on Iupati. Gotta block him dude, Atkins is average at best"

"Pike started out strong but has made some shitty throws since"

"Ben Tate makes something out of nothing. He could make some team very happy in the 4th round"

"There you go Timmy. Nice dropback. Dipped the ball a little too much on the windup. Get that ball UP, man!"

"Ciron Black shows nice athleticism going downfield, but shows bad awareness cutting so close to sidelines & forcing carrier out of bounds"

"Daryl Washington makes a beautiful tackle in open space on Tebow...not an easy thing to do."

"Leigh Tiffin is gonna kick on Sundays for 10 years or more, mark my words."

"Wow, Geno Atkins is proving me wrong. Just blew up Matt Tennant."

"Wow, Atkins is KILLING it out there"

"Damn nice run by LeGarrette Blount. Iupati blocked like 6 people. Didn't see if Blount punched anyone afterwards"

"Selvish Capers has gotta set his feet. Alualu was just bulling him back"

"Jamar Chaney showed nice instincts diagnosing the play, but didn't show good pursuit speed."

"Eric Norwood sheds the block nicely, but didn't make the tackle."

"You can feel Pike dropping into the 4th or 5th round. No pocket presence, weak-ass throws"

"WTF was that? Heads up play by Austin Lane to realize no one had touched him down on the recovery"

"Brandon Graham just neutered Selvish Capers. Holy shit. Graham is playing himself into the 1st round, Capers dropping into the 4th"

"Hahahah, Mike Neal went for the strip, totally whiffed and fell flat on his face"

"Mike Neal has looked a little soft at the point of attack"

"Terrence Cody has given 100% on just about every play this game. Color me stunned"

"Cody is helping himself bigtime"

"Jared Odrick is playing full speed ahead. Drawing doubleteams on nearly every play"

"Really been impressed with Sean Weatherspoon this half. But I've been impressed with him for 2 or 3 years now"

"Alex Carrington out of Arkansas State has quietly had a really solid game. Nothing eye catching, but consistent effort. Always in the frame"

"Zane Beadles has looked better at guard than tackle."

"Ed Wang, the tackle out of Virginia Tech, has looked like crap. No two ways about it."

"Atkins again. Beat Iupati, no less. Hate Canfield's decision making so far"

"Beautiful diagnostic instincts by Taylor Mays on that INT. If he did that all the time..."

"Zac Robinson is maddeningly inconsistent. Looks like hell, then makes a nice throw."

"Nice nice nice return by McCourty. Special teams demon"

"Canfield floats a ball on a simple WR screen. C'mon dude. ZIP it."

"Understatement time: Dan Williams is REALLY hard to move. 3-4 teams in need of a NT are licking their chops"

"Effing BEAUTIFUL pursuit speed on display by Dekoda Watson"

"Announcers creaming themselves over Lamarr Houston. I agree. Big 305 lb. dude who can play the nose or 3-technique in a 4-3. Fast as hell"

"Damn, Andre Roberts can run an effing route. Nice play by Robinson on the run."

"And the very next play he holds it too long, gets is stripped. So maddening. Consistency, Zac!!!!!!!"

"Graham is insane. Looked like Black had him blocked on that strip then boom!-somehow teleported around him"

"LeFevour in at North QB. His footwork is much better than most spread/shotgun QBs. Can he make NFL reads?"

"Stick your Clausen hate up your ass, Mayock. Don't know what else he has to do to prove himself. He's more NFL ready than even Matt Ryan was"

" Colt McCoy as a 2nd rounder?!? Hahahahahahhahahaahha. If you're on crack, maybe. Would draft him in the 4th or 5th"

"Like what I see from LeFevour. Not brilliant, but better than Pike"

"Holy balls, what ungodly power on display by Blount. He may save his career yet"

"Seriously, Zane Beadles is impressing when he lines up at guard"

"LeFevour needs a more power on his throws & to play under center, but I like his decision making & think his mechanics are underrated"

"He'll need to sit & learn a year, but he's much less of a project than Tebow is for instance"

"Cody is really redeeming himself this game. Keeps playing hard. Does he have the discipline to keep his weight under control?"

"Iupati has done a decent job when one-on-one with Dan Williams. Faint praise, but not an easy task"

"Ben Tate could be one of the hidden gems of this draft. Nice feet, good power"

"You know, for being such a massive individual, Cam Thomas can move pretty damn well"

"Not necessarily enamored of his consistency of effort at the line of scrimmage, though"

"Wow, what a BEAUTIFUL FUCKING THROW by LeFevour. Teach that man to play under center & some team will have something there"

"Eric Norwood has had a disappointing game. Non-factor. Cameron Sheffield has been pretty good, if unspectacular"

"Haven't really noticed Dixon, the RB out of Miss. State. Disappointed, really high on his sklls"

and finally....

"Is it really sad I'm taping this so I can evaluate individual players in detail? Don't answer that"

Too Much.

People are definitely making too much of the Senior Bowl practices and even the game itself…

"A player who conjugates a verb in the first person singular cannot be part of the squad, he has to conjugate the verb in the first person plural. We. We want to conquer. We are going to conquer. Using the word 'I' when you're in a group makes things complicated." ~ Wanderley Luxemburgo, 1999

Probably…but it does affect draft status for many players.

I agree tho..Pro Day’s and the combine usually are better indicators..but the Senior bowl and practices are definitely a close 3rd to those.

All of this should is probably behind game tape anyway..but it plays a part.

You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you are going, because you might not get there

Yeah

I think that it’s a lot easier to help yourself at the Senior Bowl than hurt yourself and here’s why: if you impress people, they’ll go back to give your tape a second look AND they’ll keep tabs on you as you go forward in the process.

The big thing I get out of it, is how do they pick up the offense with just a week of practice, did you see any change in their mechanics/game. It’s also for some of these guys the toughest competition they’ve faced. Sure you got your SEC guys who face top competition almost every week, but for the small school guys like Andre Roberts, Joique Bell even Mike Iupati this is the toughest competition they see.

Some people may put too much into it but it is still very useful and needed.

I agree

big time prospects going head to head, with so much on the line for them personally, it is a great time to see how they will respond learning a new system and facing pressure and higher competition all at the same time.

I would put more importance on this game than on the combine, people get too caught up in stuff that may or may not translate to the field. The combine I would use simply to rule players out, not upgrade them. Game film is more important, but the senior bowl you get to see them practice and play and compete against their own teammates for plays, that’s not something many of these guys have done before.

If I had a DVR I would've recorded it

Yes Drew K, Tim Tebow will get picked in the first round.

only watched the 4th quarter but

Tebow looked turrible, Graham was beasting. Edds, Misi and Weatherspoon impressed me.

no

Not good. Not terrible.

If that was a terrible perfomance, I dont understand why Tony Pike gets a pass, although he himself coudnt hit a wide open reciever several times. The real thing that should be noted was how Tebow has progressed running an offense he has never ran in his life.

Its should also be noted the entire south offense was out of sync the entire game. Even the West Virginia QB had trouble finding time in the pocket.

so your argument is that Tebow did not look good because

lots over other players looked like crap too?

I’ll be more specific on my thoughts on Tebow from the game. Unless his throwing motion is fixed before he hits the field at QB he’ll be a disaster.

Luck is probability taken personally, clutch is probability attributed to individuals.

I only watched the 4th quarter but he looked terrible

that is my argument,

This entire week he has shown much improvement in a brand new offense. That is all.

If he continues to have a bad release he will get drafted in the 2-3rd round and then he will be worked with for atleast a season and in that time if he shows no progress in practice and in his mechanics he will either get a shot at another postition or he will be released. Just like many other Heismen trophy QB’s have done.

Disaster is just a dramatic thing to say

Not to mention other players looking like crap helps describe the game better becuase one of the main reason anyone will say Tebow looked bad was he fumbled twice. That sounds bad, but if you knew that the o-line was giving up sacks the entire game and the WR’s were dropping easy balls frquently you might understand the course of the game better.

Even Tebows main hater Mchshay said he made good throws during the game.

screw Tony Pike, he’s terrible. Is that better?

haha

If you actually watched the entire game, and if you want to say Tebow was terrible I would only semi-agree if you also said Pike was terrible.

I dont think either is completely acurate. I think you would probly say they both didnt impress you that much, and since last monday Tebow has shown a lot of progress and Pike looked good early but then his acuracy just looked bad at the end of his time.

Its ok if you cant tell the difference even though they have numbers on thier jersey for a reason.

The problem was you assuming I am a Tebow homer becuase you think the only white Gator player is Tim Tebow. Also claiming that a player looked terrible when you only watched the 4th quarter.

or maybe I was saying he looked terrible in the 4th quarter???

you think that makes a bit more sense?

it shows what players can do with good coaching

Most good players in college are getting by on physical talent. The coaches are busy with the players that need to get better. WRs that can run 4.45 don’t bother learning how to fool CBs. What we now see is what can happen when the college stars go out and get individual coaching from the best professionals out there. With guys like Atkins, it shows they catch on quick

Don’t know what anyone sees in Capers.
