Senior Bowl- Post Game Draft Prospects review

Well.. sat out in the bitter cold at the Senior Bowl in Mobile and this is what I got from the game.

- Dan Williams occupied at least 2 blockers each time I saw him.  Good size, good motor.  I like this guy alot.

- Terrence Cody didn't look good at all to me... barely saw him on the field.  Too hefty.  Made Williams look like a light weight.  He's 370 and occupied 2 blockers on each play...but when you are pushing 400lbs... that is what is expected of you obviously.  I'd be nervous of a heart attack on the field.

-Javier Arenas looked like a good lock down guy, just lacks size.. would be tough to cover big recievers like Moss or A Johnson

-McCluster got ate alive by the defense on most plays... made a few good plays though. Maybe a better bet to return kicks and punts.  Maybe even a change of pace guy.

- Taylor Mays looked like a good player on the field.  Made a really good read on the interception and he is seriously huge.  He made Myron Rolle look like a mouse. Still not sold on him though.

- Blount is really good... he is a man.  Showed good vision and backed it up by his power.

- Tebow looked like a scrub under center, serious QB or H-back project.

- Tony Pike is a giant.. didn't look too bad.

- Michigan's Grahm is a great player, had an awesome game.  Michigan has some good DEs now.. Lamarr Woodley clone.

- Mardy Gilyard looked really good too despite having poor reviews in Senior Bowl practice. I even liked his return ability.

- Colin Peek ..TE from Bama was my favorite player of the day by far.  I really like the way this guy  plays and he seriously looks like a lineman on the field.

There are some seriously good prospects coming out this year...thoughts?

Peek

is a very solid, every-day kinda TE. A lot like former Eagle Chad Lewis. Nothing special; blocks well, works hard on his routes, not the best hands, but pretty darn consistent. He seems like a guy the Ravens/Bengals/Jets might look at for a #2 TE. 4th/5th rounder.

Arenas showed me he is too small and too slow to be an every-down CB in the league. Stock plummeted. He might be a nice Nickle CB and Kick Returner, but that’s about it. With that kind of limited upside, he’s a 5th round pick at best.

Blount looked like a man among boys when he had the ball. He plowed through bodies like Brandon Jacobs circa 2008. Andy Reid showed lots of interest in Jacobs as a prospect, and the word is that Philly scouts were the first to talk to Blount. I very much see him as a rotational powerback. 3rd/4th round pick.

The South oline did nothing for the QBs, and you can tell that McCluster wasn’t utilized because there was simply not enough time to get the ball to him in the air. I don’t like him as much as say, Percy Harvin, but he could have a niche in this league. 3rd rounder.

I reserve judgment on Tebow. Put him on a good team and sit him a year, and you’ll have yourself another Steve Young.

I think the Chiefs would be interested in Peek

Todd Haley likes consistent, hard working guys. Chiefs need that in a TE, especially one that can block and catch. I would really like him as a Chief

CM:

I am with you on this one. Peek is a TE I have my eye on for later in the draft.

LOL

Arenas was beaten twice in the game and showed great 1v1 tackling ability. Everyone knows he is a slot nickleback and a very above average return guy. He did nothing to hurt his stock. In fact all he did was reinforce what the scouts knew. He is a very solid 3rd pick. He is the best KR in the draft.

McCluster showed America what every SEC fan already knew. He is great in space, but goes down like a drunk sorority girl. He was poor in the returns and showed he can not take a hit.

what makes you think that? Is it his fumbles, poor accuracy, or his balls that skip the ground?

Judge not, lest ye be judged

Is what Tebow would probably say to that.

LaGarrette Blount

Man he has talent. The only question is character.

I think that incident’s blown a bit out of proportion. The Boise player definitely deserved it…..not condoning it…but it wasn’t unprovoked.

Not enough can be said on how even as he was suspended for the year, he still came back based on his behavior.

You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you are going, because you might not get there

I don’t think it’s so much the punch, it’s going after the fans that will draw the GMs eye.

McShay, Todd McShay you hear me boy? It's me TJ and I'm coming for your damn job boy! Oh be scared, be very scared McShay.

Sorry, my post was supposed to go here

and……….the mascot, and a reporter, and the waterboy, and the ball girl, and a locker. Hell I heard he even kicked a puppy as he was walking out of the stadium! Hahaha…. kids. Having said that, I will still take him on my team (Lions) :)

No to mention

It was not the first time he had run afoul of the law. Blount has had several issues in his college and high school career, but he is a tough runner. Solid 3rd to 4th rounder.

Can anybody tell me how Freddie Barnes looked?

He really got talked up during practices and is one of my favorite recievers to come out this year, I just didn’t hear anything about him in the game?

Barnes declined to play in the Senior Bowl.

He had already set up to begin his Combine training so he skipped the SB.
