Buffalo Bills owner wants a QB in NFL Draft
In an interview with John Wawrow of the Associated Press, Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson said the team's top priority is going to be drafting a quarterback in 2011.
Calling his team "bad," Wilson is dispatching general manager Buddy Nix out for two weeks to scout quarterbacks. It's not rare for a general manager to attend games. It is rare, however, for a team publicly announce that it's happening.
The crop of quarterbacks that Nix will likely target is Andrew Luck of Stanford, Jake Locker of Washington, Christian Ponder of Florida State and Ryan Mallett of Arkansas.
Buffalo's current starting quarterback is Ryan Fitzpatrick. The team released opening day starter Trent Edwards earlier this season. The Bills are one of three teams in the NFL without a win, along with Carolina and San Francisco.

Would be funny if Luck got drafted by the Bills and went the Jim Kelly route instead.

Yep. And poor, uh, EVERY OTHER QUARTERBACK EVER DRAFTED NO. 1 OVERALL.

I'm sure there would be about $60 million reasons why Luck wouldn't be poor.
and there’s a reason why teams draft #1 overall..they stink.

I wonder if Locker starts to turn it on this season
If he could rise up the Bills board due to Chan liking mobile QBs
Cassel out, Andrew Luck in!
Word is that they like Luck and Ponder.

He's running for his life back there
Takes off quicker than any other QB. He also will never shake the label of a backup QB.
They need a LT.
I thought so too
I haven’t actually watched one of their games so I’m basing this all of stats. Ryan Fitzpatrick has a 99.9 QB rating a td:int ratio of 7:2.
He was solid Sunday but was getting killed all day Sunday behind that line. Aaron Kampman was in his face all day. He is probably average at best but doesn’t seem to make many mistakes. But he has definite limitations but should be a good QB to have if you are drafting a young QB.

Hmmm...
Cant say Im surprised, Fitzpatrick is nothing but a career back-up. Sucks that Trent couldn’t put it together, he’s showed some flashes in his career
Picking an OL would make sense...
if there was one. There just is no Jake Long or Joe Thomas in this draft. If anything…there’s a bunch of Jason Smith’s
The Billis would be better off waiting till round 2 to draft an OL, even if they aren’t gonna draft a QB #1

not sure
they’ve been drafting OLs, not an LT tho.
I’m saying there just isn’t any OL worth reaching for at the top of the draft.

i've seen a couple LSU games this year
and I think Joseph Barksdale looks really good.
i wonder why he isnt rated higher.
We don't need 8 in the box. We have 52 in the box.
Interior line
Actually the interior isn’t that bad. Both Wood and Levitre continue to grow (Wood is nasty) and Hangartner is holding his own. If you go back to the Pats game you realize that you didn’t hear Wilfork’s name very much. Cornell Green at RT is horrid. This is why I am worried about the front office. When you make moves like picking up Green and signing Kelsey to that abomination of a contract really has me worried. How do we dig ourselves out with these decision makers???

lol
Levitre and Wood on the same line..that’s gold.

Why?

There was never any doubt the Bills would draft QB in 2010
the real question is what to do at #33. LT Gabe Carimi ( Wisconsin), Nate Solder (Colorado), Anthony Castonzo
(Boston College), Matt Reynolds (BYU), Derek Sherrod (Mississippi State) are all potential first round LTs, but one is likely to have enough question marks to fall to their 2nd round pick….
….or do they get another WR, in an very deep WR draft? Notre Dame’s Michael Floyd has disappointed somewhat and isn’t likely to burn up the track in the combine enough to catch Julio, or Green I think Jonathan Baldwin has a great “post-season” and gets into the 1st round.
Are they happy enough with Steve Johnson opposite Lee Evans??
What we need more than anything
Is a stud pass rusher. Our pass rush is freaking horrendous. I mean like really really bad.
The player I would like least at #9 would be my sister’s cat, Captain Creamsicle. She does have a great work ethic and agility, but I’m really concerned that at 9 lbs., she’s too small to play safety in the NFL. She also bites way too often on play action and is easily distracted by someone waving string in the crowd. Lastly, her wonderlic score was pretty awful, answering "meow meow meow" for most of the questions- Dr. Brackish Okun
Absolutely.
Unequivocally,etc,etc

The Reality
Is that we have so many glaring needs (Qb, LT, OLB, WR) that Chix could really go in any direction with the #1. Looking at some of the decisions OBD has made in the last year and a half I don’t know where they’ll go. Think back to the last draft. All we heard was LT, LT, LT and than they take Spiller (who I like). It shows you that even though we are hearing QB from Mr. Wilson et al we just don’t know which way the brain trust will go.
