Tony Pauline likes what he has seen from Cal junior running back Shane Vereen. I have too. He's running with much more determination than in the past.

Saying he'll always be a Tar Heel at heart, Robert Quinn didn't mention his professional future in a released statement.

Kind of early for this, but I know folks love mocks. If you can get past their terribly slow-loading site, take a look.

That would depend on what other juniors came out. Anywhere from rounds three through five, I’d guess.

That Walter is still harping on the Clayborn-Cabbie incident months after it was resolved with a $100 fine, no community service, and no suspension, makes me think he just doesn’t know enough to say anything else about Clayborn.

I do like his Indy picks
1st: The Boston College stud LT who if I’m remembering right is/was a Rhodes Scholar candidate
2nd: Stanford’s NT who impressed the hell out of me against ND, and isn’t a fat slob like most 3-4 NTs so is plausible as a 4-3 1-tech.
3rd: Some CB.

BUT, he hates on Moala and Lacey. Moala doesn’t even play the spot Fua would for the most part and Lacey is a really weird choice for who to hate on when you are slotting Indy a CB. Lacey’s been hurt a good deal and got beat over the top for a faint sign of life by the Giants in Indy’s beatdown of them, but Kelvin Hayden is the guy that’s been a disaster.

that Moala hate also irks me

because Indy returned 3 of the 4 guys that played at DT over him last year. All 3 of them have been healthy, so it’s pretty obvious why Moala is starting. He beat out the guys ahead of him!

Yeah, he made a comment like that about Ryan Grant of the Packers

He says he “wasn’t that good anyway”. Really? The guy ran for over 1,200 yards last year with 4.4 average and 11 TD’s. His stats make him look better than he is, but i’m stil sure some teams would love to have him as their RB. That comment just annoyed me.

I’ve noticed that with Walter (or his site anyways), he always speaks derisively about the players he picks to replace when justifying his picks. It maybe a devise to try and explain his picks or he is just that abrasive and it shows in his writing. Either way, I still like his site and his positional rankings can be a pretty handy source when he updates them regularly. I like the NFLMocks.com site better though because not only is the staff of writers knowledgeable, dedicated, and friendly with its fans, it is my understanding that they are all ridiculously good looking :)

Walter is a glorified troll. For months he kept having the Jags pick as Tebow and the only explanation “It’s him or go to LA.” And then he had the Jags taking John Brantley in his first 2011 mock by saying “Jags will convince him to come out after screwing up the Tebow pick”

Also love how he keeps saying the Jags are cheap. Yes Walt, the Jags were so cheap they spent like drunken sailors in 2008 to get to a Super Bowl and gave Aaron Kampman a fat check this last offseason.

Gotta love Walterfootball

good spot to get a look at names of prospects, but the guy is just so delusional with many of his writeups and “analysis”.

Shake mentions the Clayborn stuff…which its really not hard to just use this internet thing and look up how the issue is basically not one.

His Giants picks are OK. Bruce Carter would be excellent in round one, not cuz he’s a LB but since he makes plays.

Shane Vereen is OK. He’s too much of a clone of Ahmad Bradshaw to me..tho I don’t think he’s as tough (not many are tho…)

And his logic for Jarvis Jenkins in round 3 is laughable. Cofield a FA is OK, but Chris Canty was injured for the first time in his life in 2009…and not this year. He ain’t injury prone.

And of course Linval Joseph is unproven. What the hell would drafting another unproven rookie do to that “problem”?

Canty ripped his knee to shreds in 2004.

Beat me to it

He also nearly lost his eye while training for the draft in Arizona, some stupid bar fight. I seem to remember it was one of the reasons he slipped from his possible 2nd round status even after the knee problem.

He is profiled in a really good book about the draft, I forget the name but it covers all aspects of the process, scouts, agents, players and college coaches.

I think the title might just be “The Draft” will have to look it up when I get home.
