Is Christian Ponder a first-round pick?
In a close win against Boston College today, Florida State's Christian Ponder had several questionable throws. Three of them went for interceptions as he completed 19 of 31 passes for 170 yards.
Ponder's passes lacked zip and at times wobbled. To Ponder's credit, the blocking in front of him wasn't always sound. Ponder made multiple throws on the move and was pressured throughout the game.
However, one game does not make a prospect. So I open it up to you readers. Lets assume that Stanford's Andrew Luck and Arkansas' Ryan Mallett enter the draft – which is likely. Is Christian Ponder a first-round pick? If he's not, leave a comment saying where you think he should go.

There will be many teams
who will adress their starting QB question very early:
Buffalo; San Fransisco; Seattle; probably Minnesota; Jacksonville; just to name a few. I think Ponder will be a late 1st round pick. If he plays well late in the season; nobody will remeber to this meltdown….

Exposed
I think that Ponder was exposed as being locked onto a certain reciever too quickly & some really poor decisions thru the game. He was lucky he only had one returned for a pick 6 ( & I know that ball was tipped at the line but I think it was going to be picked off anyway ). There are quite a few QBs who are looking pretty good right now & I think that a few will move in front of him
As of right now, Late second round to third rounder.
I wouldn’t be shocked to see him fall a bit more either.
I said no.
I am still not so sure there will be a lot of QB’s going in the first round anyway. I believe Buffalo for sure goes for one but idk about the rest. So cause of this I think he is probably a second rounder. Right now I have him ranked 4th but that still go either way.

His arm injury has to be worse than what FSU is letting on. He never had the best arm, but some of those throws (particularly the WR screens) were terrible.

I voted no
I have him as a mid to late 2nd at best. He lacks arm strength to be effective. The other prospects really standout above him. He is very good at being what he is…average. He’s good at a lot of things, but not great at anything.

Injury to Mallett though. Hopefully it wont be severe though.

1st overall
in the second round. I think Mallet, Luck, and Locker will go in the first, possibly a dark horse as well. Then I think someone will trade for the first pick of the second round to take Ponder. If not ponder, then a guy like Gabbert, Foles, or Devlin. This is a very deep quarterback draft.
no chance
too inconsistent & not physically gifted enough. Nobody is going to fall in love with his arm. I’m sure he’ll interview well but the tape should show a 3rd-4th round player.

I vote early second but LISTEN...
CP7 was not himself today. After seeing him in person today, and being a religious FSU fan that follows post game coverage at all times, he played with a BUSTED BURSA SAC on his RIGHT THROWING ELBOW. For those of you that are unaware, google it; some pretty cool stuff.
Adios gentleman

Sort of kidding...
…he’s not as bad as Snead, but he makes terrible decisions against good defenses. He’ll struggle at the next level when all he faces are good defenses.

That is were you are incorrect
Ponder has BAD recievers they dont try to go up for the ball and then the pass gets intercepted. He actually makes good decisions and will be a first rounder.

He has good receivers...
…he just places the ball where they have to win jump balls to get them. That’s not a good throw, in my opinion. He has a lot of good throws on slants and such, but he makes a lot of bad throws.

No he definitely doesn't have good receivers
Watch an FSU game and count how many times you say “that was a good play by the receiver.” They’re never open and make no attempt to fight for the ball.

Since I'm watching Ohio State vs. Wisconsin now
I can say Ponder should go higher than Pryor.
I'll say he sneaks into the 1st.
Hopefully the Jags stay far away from him, not a big fan of him.

No
Not this year, the class is too deep. No way he should go ahead of Luck, Mallett, Locker, and arguably others like Foles.

Rumor has it, the Bills like him, so if that’s true, I guess he’d be early second at the latest? I’m not a fan. The Bills O-line and a guy who has been unspectacular in college? No thanks.

As Uncle Munnerlyn said, with so many other prospects who are getting it done decision-wise (minus Locker), I don’t see how if they all come out Ponder goes in the 1st.
You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In *St. Louis* his job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill! Period! Win by attrition. Well, *Steven Jackson* was the best.
He was playing injured.
He may not be a first round pick, but people saying he was “exposed” in a game where he was playing injured are clueless.
Selgy
FSU fan here
I am an FSU fan and I saw he is not a first round pick. I can see him slipping round two and getting selecting in the same area than Chad Henne went in 2008. He certainly is not back to where he was pre-injury last year.
But one thing for sure is he is not “this year’s Jevan Snead”.
No, I see him going in the second though

I see him going early-second round to a team like, Jacksonville, San Francisco, or Minnesota
