Captain of the Tailgate: A marinade with rum? Yum
Every Friday over the next several weeks we'll be talking tailgating. That's thanks to a cool sponsorship deal with Captain Morgan. You know, the maker tasty sweet spiced rum with the wacky pirate mascot. Mmmm.
As some of you may know, I am an Akron Zips fan. The Zips have the longest losing streak among FBS teams. The same Zips who had maybe 3,000 fans in attendance last Saturday.
So it goes without saying that tailgating has become more important than the football. Even more important? Getting hammered before the game in the tailgate lot. More on that next week. But conveniently enough, one of the things we cook for tailgating has a a Captain Morgan-based marinade. You can find the recipe and a fun video featuring Marissa Miller after the jump.
This is a steak marinade that doesn't require precise measurements. The night before the game, put your steaks in a large bag that seals. Also include in the bag some Captain Morgan (I use about a cup), Worcestershire sauce (about a half cup), a couple of smashed cloves of garlic and some pepper. Refrigerate overnight – no one likes to get cysts in their body from exposed meat!
The next day, toss the steaks on the grill and enjoy. That's it. Easy, right?
So that's one of my favorite tailgate marinades. Tell me what you like and maybe I'll try it at a game and report back. Next week, our favorite mixed drinks with Captain Morgan in them. And now, Marissa Miller (put your pants back on, creep):
