NFL Draft 2011 rankings: Quarterbacks Nick Foles, Blaine Gabbert provide intrigue
Throughout the day, we're releasing our 2011 NFL Draft rankings in batches of 25. After the jump find 75-51.
Spotlight on: Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri
No one seems to be talking about Blaine Gabbert these days. Maybe it's because he plays on an average Missouri team. Maybe it's because he has just five touchdowns to three interceptions this season. But don't forget about those John Elway comparisons from last season. Gabbert still has the arm and enough mobility. He just has to string together a few good games to rise higher in these rankings. His ceiling is extremely high.

I’ve been curious about how little we hear about Gabbert, as well. He’s been noncommittal about whether or not he’ll return or enter the draft, his physical profile is just as impressive as anybody else’s, he’s been productive (albeit in the Mizzou system), his mechanics seem clean (although a bit inconsistent)…
I anticipate we’ll have a good idea by the end of this month. Missouri has Oklahoma at home the 23rd and then go to Lincoln the 30th. Both those defenses have put some serious tarnish on the draft stocks of a couple high profile QB prospects. If Gabbert looks good, or maybe even holds his own, then I imagine he’ll get some momentum.
I don’t think both Gabbert and Foles will go pro. I think if one of them does, though, they will go in the first round instead of Ponder.
Daniel Thomas runs hard. He will be tested tonight.

I agree that...
I don’t see them both going pro. One seems likely, though. Regardless, I think that the Jags would be more interested in both of them over Locker and Mallett.

Kerrigan
I’m a lot higher on him than you are. I would probably have him ranked closer to 35-40. Do you think he’d be unable to be successful as an OLB in a 3-4? Is this part of why you have him ranked as a late 2nd rd prospect?
