Mock draft group- Round 1 over

So I came up with a fun Idea I think at least, I want to take the mock draft and get a collaboration on it. Taking a fan to represent their team and tell me who their taking in the draft. Let's try it out.

Star-divide

**** NEW REQUIREMENT*** When Calling Dibs on a team Post your 3 Top prospects you want. That way if your not available I will post the number 1 player on your list that's still available.

So here it is. The draft's today here's the draft order taking the current power rankings mixed with a simulated playoffs it would go like this:

Buffalo Bills: Andrew Luck QB Stanford
Carolina Panthers (RjTheMetalhead): Patrick Peterson CB/KR LSU
Dallas Cowboys(-primetime21-):  Marcell Dareus DE Bama
Denver Broncos(dbroncos1414): Adrian Clayborn DE Iowa
San Francisco 49ers(manraj7): Prince Amukamara CB Nebraska
Detroit Lions (TheAngelsColts): Gabe Carimi T Lions
Cincinnati Bengals(CByers): Cam Newton QB Auburn
Arizona Cardinals (group decision): Akeem Ayers OLB UCLA
Seattle Seahawks(buckeyefan55) : Jake Locker QB Washington
Cleveland Browns (CByers):  AJ Green WR Georgia
Minnesota Vikings (-primetime21-): Ryan Mallett QB Ark
Jacksonville Jaguars(rws591): Brandon Harris CB U Miami
Chicago Bears (-primetime21-): Derek Sherrod T Miss. St
Washington Redskins(ENsDad27): Stephen Paea DT Ore. St
Miami Dolphins(Souwantmyname): Ras I-Dowling CB Virginia
San Diego Chargers(ENsDad27): Da’Quan Bowers DE Clemson
Houston Texans(TexansDC): Nick Fairley DT Auburn
Tennessee Titans (TheAngelsColts): Travis Lewis OLB OU
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (RjTheMetalhead): Robert Quinn DE NC
New England Patriots(via Oakland Raiders): Mark Ingram RB Bama
St. Louis Rams (group): Julio Jones WR Bama
Kansas City Chiefs (Steve_Chiefs): Stefen Wisniewski C PSU
New Orleans Saints (RjTheMetalhead): Bruce Carter LB NC
Indianapolis Colts (shake n bake): Anthony Constanzo T BC
New England Patriots: Allen Bailey DL U Miami
Philadelphia Eagles(ENsDad27) : Von Miller OLB Tx A&M
Pittsburgh Steelers(rws591): Mike Pouncey G FL
Green Bay Packers(Yankees10): MIkel Lashoure RB IL
New York Jets(andrew21): Jeremy Beal LB OU
Atlanta Falcons (Souwantmyname): DeAndre McDaniel FS Clemson
Baltimore Ravens(Buckeyefan55): Janoris Jenkins CB UF
New York Giants (ct17):Drake Nevis DT LSU

AND ROUND 1 IS DONE

What I would like to do is get a fan to represent each team, tell me their pick and I'll edit it as it goes. All players who can leave early are eligible, I'll start it off with the bills taking Luck as the obvious. Now I need a bronco fan next and so on.  By the way, if there is enough of a response we may go round 2.

If it's deemed spam, it gets deleted.

It will be a mixture of first fan to post & calling dibbs

(as long as i got make sure theyre a fan not a troll)

That other picks get lined up and it won’t take as long.

I'll take the Chiefs

Chiefs go 7-9 this year and 3-3 in the division.
We have a top 5 rushing attack and a bottom 10 pass attack. Charles and Bowe in the Pro Bowl.
We have a top 5 pass defense and a bottom 10 rush defense. Hali, Flowers, and Berry to the Pro Bowl.

Hmm early for this huh. Im sorta confused though.

Are they giving you names and then you are going to just put them in as people tell you or what? Anyway should be interesting.

Well..

Basically when a fan gives me his/her pick I’ll edit it, write their name down(who made the pick) and who they think their team would draft in this situation, I find it more interesting if it’s an actual fan drafting for their team then 1 guy just guessing the 32.
(example being pantherfan97 – A.J. Green)

Some people are calling dibs on their teams now so they can having drafting duties when the time comes (which makes it a lot easier when the time comes)

What he is too much of a gentleman to say is

The idea is not new, AngelsColts has done this frequently in the past. And done it well. Hence his sig line.

I’m not reliable with having to be around at a certain time to make the pick, so I will defer to the Giants’ Chief Draft Nut.

haha sorry I do know what your trying to do I just didn't think it was explained very well

Like Ct said I have done it before and run it for the site last year and we are doing it on a larger scale this year. But yea and now i wouldn’t like I think Ct was maybe maybe not implying have an issue with you trying to do one especially this early, I look forward to the results.

Oh and Colts will win this weekend :)

by RjTheMetalhead on Nov 13, 2010 1:46 AM EST up reply actions

In all honestly

Do you think they’ll go defense or offense?? With Steve Smith’s injury problems do you think A.J. Green would be a good pick, or don’t you want him???

Just asking, I think Peterson is going to be a stud, so either way it’s a great pick, but I’m just curious what your thoughts are.

"Lord, beer me strength"

by -Primetime21- on Nov 13, 2010 12:56 PM EST up reply actions

Defense.

Our number 2 corner will most likely be in a different uniform come April, I love Captain Munnerlyn but i don’t think he could matchup with #2 receivers that well.
An elite DE or DT are also possibilities with the high pick.
Also the Panthers will have a lot of cap space for the free agency next year, expect some big signings.

As for Steve “Tough as Hell” Smith he is already be used in the slot this year with Gettis and Lafell as the #1 and #2 receivers respectably.
And a diva WR like Green really wouldn’t help a young team at all.

by ENsDad27 on Nov 12, 2010 10:06 PM EST reply actions

Just a thought

but you might want to think about asking if people can rep two teams.

by ENsDad27 on Nov 13, 2010 7:25 AM EST reply actions

Some tips from previous experience

1. People need to know when the draft will start and when they will be picking. A common option for drafts like this is to schedule a couple of picks a day.

2. Not all teams have readers or at least posters here. So if you do not hear from people by a certain date, ask for other volunteers.

3. You figured out to have people send lists on your first try. Good job, that took us awhile.

4. The big problem is always people that sign up but do not show up and do not send lists. No perfect answer to this. On a smaller 1-rounder like this you should just pick for them. On the live drafts they pick by common agreement of whoever is around.

by ct17 on Nov 13, 2010 9:09 AM EST reply actions

There are 16 people involved right now

I think we should all take 2 teams so we can finish this up. Could take forever to get someone different to represent each team.

  5. Travis Lewis
  6. Bruce Carter

That should do it (I actually hate the Vikings with a passion, but took this seriously so don’t worry, I actually hope they draft Locker cause he is the next great 1st round QB bust)

Yuck I actually don't see vikings taking a QB and have bigger needs but whatever thats just me.

They need a DT in the first round because they are lossing both Williams’s probably. Both are FA’s and one may retire

Well i'm not ruling out the possibility of them taking a qb

Childress looking on the outs.

I could see a new coaching staff trying to establish their own face of the franchise in either Mallett or Locker.

But you def. are correct there are many other needs. I would also even say (though its a rather high pick to use on a relative weak class) look into an OL being that Favre during his viking career has already been sacked 51 times while wearing the purple.

Sports = Money.

by C Byers on Nov 13, 2010 3:05 PM EST up reply actions

yea a G also would probably be a good pick for them but probably wait till the second round.

OL is sorta weak at least in that you don;t have any top 15 OT’s like last year.

I think they take a QB if they don't get Vick or McNabb

But Greenway is also going to be a FA, I think outside linebacker is a big need for them. Should be interesting, the reason I didn’t go O-line is just like you said, no lineman worthy of that pick

"Lord, beer me strength"

by -Primetime21- on Nov 13, 2010 3:20 PM EST up reply actions

Who would you say???

Solder and Castonzo and Sherod? Maybe Barksdale

I just don’t know if any of them are top 10 picks. And they’re all tackles. I guess they could replace McKinnie, he’s worthless in my opinion.

"Lord, beer me strength"

by -Primetime21- on Nov 13, 2010 3:41 PM EST up reply actions

OL options I like not all necessarily top 10 or 15

Solder, Castonzo, Sherrod, Carimi, love

those are tackles.

At G I have: Hudson, Pouncey (not top 15 probably).

At C it is possible Wisniewski could get in bottom of top 15 but he is first round.

by -Primetime21- on Nov 13, 2010 5:40 PM EST up reply actions

Well

I have made the project even bigger this year. I have already put together a group of people to create the same Big Board I did last year with these new prospects and we are doing the rankings thought the year. The group will put out a few mocks (one will be out tonight or tomorrow which is a 1 rounder) before we do the 32 member ones. I think I won’t do the 7 round type till some time in january so that we have time to more accurately rank the prospects on the board thats going to be used and at that time I think we will have more people that are willing to do it than at this time.

So just stick around and you will get a chance though ill tell you I got two big Cowboys draft nerds that like doing my 7 rounders and one helps out some (did last year). But at the very least if your here you can be a backup as we have a backup for each of the 32 teams if we can (so yea a lot of people involved).

That's what sucks about the rest of the year

Each win from here on out will be very bittersweet. Obviously no one wants to see their favorite team lose, especially being a Cowboys fan we get more shit when they lose than any other team. But each time they win it’s just going to put Peterson a little more out of reach. Oh, and for the record, I DO NOT want Amukamara as a consolation prize…he has bust written all over him IMO

But with..

Locker And Mallett still available would they consider QB,
Hasselbeck is 35,
Whitehurst is a career clipboard holder
and J.P. Losman is 3rd on the depth chart.

And Marshawn Lynch isn’t the weakest link in the chain IMHO, and a back in the 2nd seems to me a better option.

Sports = Money.

by C Byers on Nov 13, 2010 5:47 PM EST up reply actions

Well

It may just be me but they didn’t trade picks to get Whitehurst for no reason. However I agree he isn’t a long term starter. I think hasselback is either done or almost done after this season. They will go one more seasons with these two but maybe whitehurst gets most of the starts idk. I think Carroll is going to wait one more season and grab Barkley from USC if he comes out as a Junior. It is possible they could take one of those two but I think Carroll is thinking he can get barkley and I think he more (mallet) are the best fit for the system.

I'd say

Arizona would go with Robert Quinn, they have no pass rush what-so-ever. Quinn would come in and make an immediate impact.

by C Byers on Nov 13, 2010 6:04 PM EST up reply actions

As a Redskin fan

I would say that the odds of McNabb being a Cardinal next year are pretty good

by ENsDad27 on Nov 13, 2010 6:05 PM EST up reply actions

Too raw.

You won’t find many other people on here who like him more. But a QB now, is certainly not the case.

He needs coached up and possibly mentored to be a qb in the NFL.
-——————————-
I’m thinking defense boys and girls. They’re 27th in passing yrds allowed and 28th in running allowed. And a stud LB may fit the bill

It’ll be interesting to see how that all works. He has to have a great showing at his pro day (can he still participate in the UNC pro day?) and the combine.

Too hard to tell

I hope they draft Locker and he’s a huge bust….but that’s not the name of the game we’re playing I guess. So with all honesty, I would say they still take a QB, and they run a 4-3 so Quinn wouldn’t be an option. I’d say Mallett would be the choice.

who’s probably the best player in the draft.

Mike Brown.

WR. Next season is Jordan Shipley and who?

by C Byers on Nov 13, 2010 6:34 PM EST up reply actions

If Andre Smith comes of IR he will be a stalwart at the RT.
Andrew Whitworth is solid.
Nate Livings is very underrated and works great with Cook and Whit.
Right Guard Bobbie Williams is past prime and after this season is predicted to retire giving young pups Reggie Stephens and Otis Hudson a chance to work for it.

The reason the OL was so bad early on was Denis Roland was in a RT and may be one of the worst Tackles i’ve seen in a while. Truly horrendous season for him.

But what I’m saying the weakness of the OL was the right side and that won’t be the same next season anyways.

Sports = Money.

by C Byers on Nov 13, 2010 6:45 PM EST up reply actions

Your right on DL

They need to address it and Robert Quinn was very attractive there. But i think we have so how they perform the rest of the season. The D I saw vs the steelers was a defense I haven’t seen since last season.
If they continue to perform the way they did that game (or just Dunlap and Johnson do), I could imagine DL waiting till round 2 or 3 and addressing a glaring offensive need first.

Mikey Brown used a 2 on Dunlap and a 3 on MJ I don’t see him using a 1 this yr unless someone took another QB and Green off the board.

Sports = Money.

by C Byers on Nov 13, 2010 7:01 PM EST up reply actions

Mike Brown is a joke.

The Panthers and Jaguars have more wins than the Bengals since he took over with 4 less years.

by RjTheMetalhead on Nov 13, 2010 6:41 PM EST up reply actions

Most. Def.

That’s why I sorta channeled my inner Mike brown for the pick.

It would be like drafting for the raiders and NOT picking the fastest guy in the draft.

Sports = Money.

by C Byers on Nov 13, 2010 6:46 PM EST up reply actions

More or less honestly

Addressing a need, but not addressing the most important.

I think it has him written all over it. So to keep it more “realistically flawed” I took Green.

Sports = Money.

by C Byers on Nov 13, 2010 6:53 PM EST up reply actions

I don't think that any team in the NFL

would go wrong by picking AJ green. He is the best WR since Calvin Johnson

It's not going to be a defensive back

Rick Smith is anti-safety early. The earliest he’s drafted one is in round five. As for CB, they’re not going to take a second straight one in the first round. If anything, they need some veterans on the back end.

A speed rushing DE is probably a later round pick…..

It really comes down to a DT with a motor (and they value guys around 285 pounds) or a WLB since Zac Diles is pure garbage. And really, the guy who seems Texanish (versatile, ex-team captain, high-motor, size) seems to be Cameron Hayward.

DeAndre McDaniel is second round talent at best, and safety is not a need at all for the falcons. Yet, I see two safeties on your list (including several names I have honestly never heard off). Falcons have a good foundation. Now they need to look for a few game changers and role players to fill their needs
