The Andrew Luck Bowl no more
Early in the season, Sunday's Browns/Bills game was tabbed the Andrew Luck Bowl.
But with Buffalo currently holding the fourth pick in the 2011 NFL Draft and Cleveland the 13th pick, that is unlikely.
It's not necessarily their draft position that eliminates either team from taking the talented Stanford quarterback. Instead, it's been surprising quarterback play.
But McCoy has shown he can not only manage games, but win them for the run-first Browns.
For the Bills, Ryan Fitzpatrick may be doing enough to warrant another season as the starting quarterback. Against the Bengals, he brought the team back from a 21-point deficit. Even before that game, Bills general manager Buddy Nix said Fitzpatrick isn't the problem in Buffalo.
Whether fans agree or not, if the front office believes it, Luck may not be the choice for Buffalo in April. The same can be said for Cleveland.

I don't think Buffalo would pass up an elite QB prospect
if the opportunity presented itself. They do seem to like Fitzpatrick, but I doubt they’re planning to build around him.
Fitz is fool's gold
Most of his production has come late in games against soft defenses.
But Carolina is going to get Luck. They don’t have a QB on that team.

Need to give the guy more cred then that . you do understand he plays for the Bills ?
20 TDs in 10 games on a 2 win team is nothing to sneeze at.
I may not be the most noble of men but in a town of lepers, im the one with the most fingers.
As a Bills fan who watched every game.
20 TDs in 10 games on a 2 win team is nothing to sneeze at.
He padded his statistics in garbage time when the game isn’t on the line. Most of those 10 picks came with a close score, while a bunch of TDs came when the game is out of reach, or we are way behind and there is nothing to lose by slinging it.
That’s why we have 2 wins but Fitz has good stats, he is not the answer at QB.

You sure have that right.

i respect your opinion as a bills fan but something tells me not many QBs would look much better.
he s not exactly working with future HOF’s . but good luck in the Luck sweepstakes.

if they do, it will probably be similar to what the Giants gave up to get Eli Manning, 2 1st rounders and a 3rd.

Go Buffalo!
Being a Panther’s fan I’ve also become a huge Bills fan. I hope they win this game, so we can give ourselves more of a cushion. Now if only Cincy and Detroit would win some games.
CAR is a lock for the #1
Hopefully Luck will provide your team the same kind of success Bradford has St.Louis.

I like Fitzpatrick
But I’m not sold on McCoy. I saw him throw a pass against the Jaguars. It was about a 40 yard throw when it needed to go about 55. If Rashean Mathis didn’t all of a sudden suck he would have picked it off easily
If hip hop is dead, then it happened the day that Dilla died.

Yeah, I'm not sold either
Granted, I haven’t watched much of the Browns this season. But I live in Ohio and I think that team’s fans are just amazed at average QB play. Their QBs have been SO BAD for SO LONG that an average QB steps in the pocket and they are amazed by what average looks like.
Colt is better than Brady Quinn and Derrick Anderson for sure. But is his ceiling in the NFL high enough to build a team around? I don’t think so.

Arizona already has 3 wins
Its very doubtful that Carolina gets 2 more wins this year. But, yeah, Arizona is awful.
Maybe not but Arizona could easily end up drafting 2nd.
There’s no guarantee Carolina will take Luck. They did just draft Clausen. Arizona drafted a QB in the fifth round, John Skelton, who was passed over for an undrafted rookie free agent as Derek Anderson’s back up. The Cardinals won’t hesitate to pull the trigger. Carolina has three options, draft Luck, pass him over, or trade down.
i thought the panthers drafted a qb last draft

yeah they did

i hope that the panthers are dissuaded to take a qb, given that they have a small investment in one already, and, that somehow, andrew luck falls on the bills’ laps.
"the man who created a legend; the legend who resurrected a franchise."
I really doubt that will happen
If the Panthers don’t draft Luck, they will most likely field trade offers for him. Some team is going to offer a trade to Carolina to get him. It could very well be the Bills, but I don’t think you can count on him falling into the Bill’s lap.
Fitzpatrick can be the bridge QB but he’s not Andrew Luck. Too bad the Panthers will take him.

Here's my question - If Carolina takes Luck, who takes Clausen?
Does Buffalo and Arizona passing on him twice last year mean they were not interested, or that they were not interested in a QB? Minnesota and SF passed on him only once, and SF went the lets-collect-a-couple-backups-with-potential route. Cincy was probably not thinking QB.
My thinking is if they pick Luck, they try to get a 2nd or 3rd back for Clausen. But since Clausen fell, maybe nobody likes him, and Carolina eats the pick.
Clausen's has essentially no trade value
People saw what he did playing for the Panthers this year and it was absolutely brutal. I don’t think there are many NFL teams that would even want him on the 53 much less actually trade for him.
He just joins the very long long list of yet another college QB that busts in the NFL
Especially with this year’s hot crop of QBs in Luck, Cam, Locker, and Mallett, the NFL has to be ready to turn the page on Clausen.

If Carolina takes Luck...
I think the Panthers will keep Clausen for next year even if they picked Luck. Remember that Clausen’s contract isn’t too steep, so they can afford to have them both on their roster. Having Clausen compete with Luck for the starting QB job will be good for the both of them. I don’t think Carolina is completely giving up on Clausen, especially considering the horrible team that they’ve surrounded him with. I think it’s a bit much to say that he’s a bust yet and that most NFL teams wouldn’t want him on their 53 man roster. Remember he’s a rookie, and most rookies don’t have good years like Matt Ryan and Sam Bradford.
I think Carolina keeps Clausen and tries to build up his trade value, kind of like what Philly did with Kolb.
I agree Clausen is not a bust
A rookie QB playing with his best WR and two best RBs hurt, along with a starting tackle, can hardly be expected to be impressive. And Carolina fans, whether pro- or anti-luck, are not saying anything bad about Clausen.
Yeah, I’m not saying that he couldn’t be a bust, but it’s too early to determine if he is or not. Also, Steve Smith isn’t hurt. He only missed one game. And Stewart is back.

Clausen's Passer rating is 55.3
55.3!
That is the lowest passer rating in the NFL among starting QBs according to NFL.com. In fact, it is so bad that the next-highest passer rating is Derek Anderson at 65.9 – a full 10 points higher.
Clausen has had a disaster of a year and it is difficult to imagine him on an NFL roster 2 years from now.
He has no trade value.

A rookie QB on the potentially worst team in the NFL
With missing/injured pieces at various times. Should and will get more time to prove himself.
Stafford’s rating last year was a 61. He had that rating throwing to 6-5 Calvin Johnson. In a dome. Should the Lions cut him? Does he have no trade value?
Vick started with a 62.7 Peyton a 71. Eli a 55.4! McNabb a 60. Freeman a 60 last year. Sanchez had a 63 last year. All of these guys not only did not lose their job, they were given the starter job the next year.
QBs get time to develop.
I agree, he’s been awful this year, but I highly doubt the Panthers give up on him yet and just drop him or give him away for next to nothing. Don’t get me wrong, the Panthers will draft Andrew Luck if they can, but there is no point in getting rid of Clausen right away either, given that he doesn’t have any trade value. They will see what he has with a good team surrounding him before they show him the door.
I imagine him as a career backup-type of QB.
so throw him away after one
Go look at Eli’s stats his rookie season. They are just as bad but you don’t give up on a guy so quickly.

Yeah but Eli was also the #1 overall pick
Clausen was the 48th pick in the draft. The Giants had a huge amount of money invested in Eli, Carolina doesn’t in Clausen. I’m not saying that Carolina gives up on Clausen, but I still think they should draft Luck so the two can compete for the starting job.
I’m not the guy to answer that question. I haven’t watched Newton play. I think the Bills will take a QB they love or really like in the first or second round. Of course I thought that last April, too.
